Kali-kalihan Festival 2018 a showcase of heritage and culture

The recently concluded 28th Kali-kalihan harvest festival 2018 and 35th Founding Anniversary gathered the people of the Municipality of Don Salvador Benedicto and showcased their heritage, history and culture. Mayor Laurence Marxlen dela Cruz said the common goal that has been set as “One Salvadorian” is objective of the Municipality that the people should unite in a common purpose and heed the call of unity so that the simple dreams and aspirations of the people to prosper and thrive can be achieved.

Mayor dela Cruz said that it is very easy to travel back and forth to Don Salvador. Road constructions are ongoing to further improve the access of the people to and from their respective Barangay. Improved medical and social service programs for the people is also one of the priorities of the administration.

A birthing clinic is also on its way so that the people who will need the service could easily avail it. Vice Mayor Nehemiah Joe dela Cruz said that the yearly activities of the Festival is dedicated to the people, so that they may enjoy as well as be entertained for the rest of the festivities.

Mayor Marxlen further said that this year’s festival is the continuing showcase of the municipality’s culture and history so that the youth of today shall always remember how DSB started and what it has become right now. “We dedicate our time and effort in our duty as public servants, be with the people and know their issues of concern so that it can be addressed,” the Mayor said.

The yearly streetdance and cultural presentation as one of the highlights of the festivity showed various tribes who performed on the streets up to the Municipal arena. Thousands gathered to witness the event as people lined up on the streets to get a glimpse of the dance parade.

Last part of the festival featured stars from Manila who invaded DSB. This includes stand-up comedian Mojak who took centerstage and blew minds of the audience with his exemplary talent that shook the Municipal Gym with fun and laughter. FHM Darling Arny Ross who is also one of the stars in Bubble Gang came up with her hot dance moves and led fun and games with the locals. Vice Ganda impersonator Daniel Aliermo and partner Tekla had their time to make DSB locals laugh.

Viva Hotbabes Katya Santos and JC Parker stunned the crowd with their beauty and sexiness and led people of all ages at the stage to play with them. DJs from Manila capped the festival as they played their music until the wee hours of the morning and made Salvadorians dance to their beat. It was truly another successful staging of the Kali Kalihan Festival 2018. Mayor dela Cruz thanked the people for their support and cooperation and in making the festivities a huge success.*
