Police trainee ran over by truck
A police trainee was killed when the motorcycle he was driving on his way home at Barangay La Granja in La Carlota City Friday night was hit by another motorcycle and he was ran over by a sugarcane-loaded truck.
Police Supt. Cresenciano Cordero, La Carlota PNP chief, identified the victim as PO1 Roel Talaban Baloyot, 25 of Purok 4, Brgy. La Granja.
Baloyot was driving his black 150 Yamaha when he was hit by another motorcycle driven by Edwin Salva Galon, 27 of Barangay Haguimit, La Carlota.
Baloyot sustained head and body injuries after he was ran over by a cargo truck loaded with sugarcane along a road in the area.
He was rushed to the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota but was declared dead on arrival.
Baloyot of Kampilan Class was still under traning at the Regional Public Safety 6 headquarters in Bakyas, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
The driver of the cargo truck was identified as Romulo Locton Pedro, 49, married and resident of Barangay Masulog, La Castellena.
Police investigations disclosed that the victim and another motorcycle, driven by Edwin Salva Galon were running towards La Granja but the motorcycle of Galon had no light, causing them to hit each other that caused them to fall into the road.
It is timely that the cargo truck of Pedro passed by and he avoided the victm lying in the road but his rear tire hit the victim on the belly.
After the incident, Galon ecaped while Pedro surrendered to the next post of guard in Barangay Nagasi also in La Carlota.
The two suspects were arrested later and are detained at La Carlota PNP custodial facility.*
