Mobile drug peddling in Isabela probed
Authorities in Isabela town are investigating reports that illegal drug peddlers have switched their strategy in delivering and distributing illegal drugs, reportedly by using private vehicles in “dropping” drugs to their clients.
Isabela Mayor Joselito Malabor told the media, reports reached his office revealing that people behind the illegal drug trade distribute their goods using private vehicles like vans.
Malabor said, illegal drug peddlers no longer use a house as “bagsakan” but have reportedly resorted to “mobile distribution.”
Malabor said that based initial reports, the vehicle would usually stop at a certain area where clients or users link up to get the goods.
He admitted that his strong stance against the illegal drug trade in his town has generated threats to his life from suspected druglords.
“They are not from here. They are from outside the town,” Malabor said.
He said he had been taking precautions to safeguard his life against such threats.
He said, he has asked the local police to conduct and intensify checkpoints in the town.
Malabor said despite the threats, he reiterated his order for an all-out campaign against illegal drugs.
He said he is also urging residents to cooperate and report sightings of suspicious looking individuals as well.
Malabor said there are no known high value individuals in the town as far as the illegal drug trade is concerned.
Malabor said, as far as his administration is concerned, it has always been against drugs.
He said, to sway the youths against resorting to illegal drugs, he has activated the Municipal Sports and Youth Development Council.
He said MSYDC is tasked to come up with programs and projects that would cater to the youth.*(NDB)
