BTTHS Sweeps Area 3 in Palarong Panlalawigan

The Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) Thunderbolts – representing NOPSSCEA swept Area 3 – Talisay City in 3 sets during Palarong Panalawigan secondary girls’ volleyball finals at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center to secure the right to represent Negros Occidental in next year’s Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet in Iloilo.

The Jose Montalbo-bankrolled team downed Area 3: 25-17, 25-16 and 25-20 to win the gold medal.

Montalbo, Tay Tung’s vice president for sports, said that as they turned their focus to the regionals, the team should work hard and try to find ways because Iloilo is also a Palarong Pambansa bronze. “It would be a tough task but, I’m confident that my players will able to get through it. Their hardwork and exposure helped them a lot,” he said.

Gauging to which level her players have reached since they initially meet their Iloilo counterparts last summer, Montalbo said that her players have gone far beyond of their expectations. “If we have some hesitations before on our players’ capabilities, now anybody can take their teammates’ shoes when performances are off,” he added.

Thunderbolts also swept Area 4 (La Carlota City) in the semifinals: 25-12 and 25-13.

Today, the Thunderbolts will continue their quest to further develop their talents as they see action in the Mayor Tinto BasconChristmas Volleyball League 2017 Inter-High School Open Boys and Girls scheduled December 16-18, 2017 in Himamaylan City.

Among the teams seeing action are host-Himamaylan City, San Carlos City, towns of Binalbagan and Valladolid, Living Stone International School (LSIS), and Colegio San Agustin Bacolod for the boys’ division.
