2 soldiers wounded in Himamaylan clash with rebels
Responding AFP chopper forced to land in sugarcane field due to trouble
Two soldiers of the 62nd Infantry Battalion were wounded in two encounters with the communist terrorists in the hinterlands of Himamaylan City yesterday morning.

At the same time, a responding Philippine Air Force helicopter developed trouble and made an emergency landing at a sugarcane field in Hinigaran past noon time yesterday.
Col. Eliezer Lozañes, commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, told media the first encounter between Army troopers an New People’s Army (NPA) terrorists took place at about 6:30 yesterday morning took in Sitio Cunalom in Barangay Carabalan, Himamaylan.
A platoon of the 62nd IB led by 1Lt. John William D. Portillano clashed with an undetermined number of rebels tat resulted to the wounding of Sgt. Jomar Dolorfino.
At 9:15 also yesterday morning, the same troops on hot pursuit of the NPAs by following bloodstains, also clashed with rebels, resulting to the wounding of another soldier, Private Jelord Paronda.
Losañes said, the helicopter that rushed the wounded soldiers to Kabankalan City developed trouble whe it was already on its way back to Bacolod City to refuel.
The pilot was forced to land the chopper at a sugarcane field some 500 meters from the national highway in Barangay Pilar, Hinigaran, a boundary barangay between Hinigaran and Binalbagan.
No one was hurt during the emergency landing.
Losañes is expressing his gratitude for the cooperaton of the public in reporting the presence of the rebels.
