New Prexy Should Focus on Dev’t Not Politics

The winner of the 2016 presidential elections should focus on development and not politics, Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., said yesterday.

Marañon was reacting to the possibility that Mar Roxas loses next year and the new president may stop projects for the province and the newly-created Negros Island Region (NIR).

“The new president will have to think about development and progress and not politics,” the Governor said.

Marañon, a staunch supporter of Roxas’ presidential bid pointed out that Negros Occidental is the fourth largest province in the Philippines and NIR will be the most progressive region with almost five million population.

“Will he disregard this just because of politics?” he asked.

“I hope he or she sets aside politics,” he added.

“Our biggest problem in the country is politics, because we have elections every three years,” Marañon said.

Marañon, however, believes that Roxas will still win in 2016.* (Eugene Y. Adiong)
