C’97 Finishes on Top in Bracket Qualifiers

Class of 1997 bowling team is top finisher as the bracket qualifying round ended after day five on November 25 in the ongoing 2017-2018 NOHSAAI Bowling Festival for Unity hosted by Negros Occidental High School C’93 at Negros Super Lanes in Bacolod City.

Led by its lady ace duckpinner Jozel N. Balontong and seasoned duckpinner Karl Barbosa, the young gun team gathered enough points to emerge on top despite scoring a dismal three-game output of 430-490-484.

The Dannie Uguil-managed C’97 gathered a total score of 7,167 pin falls to spearhead bracket “A” followed by C’82 with 7,150 and C’85 with 7,139.

Joining the competitive group include: C’94 - 7,136; C’71 - 7,080; C’96 - 7,016; C’66 - 6,976; 2000up - 6,890; C’90 - 6,889; and Golden - 6,850.

In other brackets, C’95 anchored by Essho Garcia went down to place at no.11 with 6,809 to lead “B”; while C’92 with Rizal Labordo at the helm kept it close with 6,300 to head “C”.

The bracketing final round is being played as of press time.

Scores will reset to zero and teams must play another five scheduled games to determine the Top Five to play in the Stepladder Finals on January 27, 2018.

This five-man duckpin league is headed by duckpin director Alex Fantilanan of ’93 under the leadership of alumni over-all chairman Citoy Taño
