The Resolution stated that the City Government of La Carlota has issued a cease and desist order to Roxol Bioenergy Corporation in La Carlota City on November 15, 2017. The grounds of the issuance are the extremely foul and highly obnoxious odor emanating from Roxol’s ethanol water waste treatment pond which can seriously compromise the health of the of residents.
The Resolution states that “The Marayo River is always at the receiving end of waste from Roxol Bioenergy Corporation thereby contaminating river from Brgy. I Poblacion, Brgy. II Poblacion, and Brgy. III Poblacion which resulted to massive fish kill and other aqua-marine products, thus affecting the livelihood or our people. The foul odor that emanates from their waste had greatly affected the health of our constituents in Brgy. Antipolo, Brgy. DSB, and nearby barangays of this municipality.”
Upon motion of SBM Jose Marie T. Suanico duly seconded by the body, the Resolution was unanimously approved, attested to by Vice-Mayor Jimmy C. Gavan, Presiding Officer and approved by Mayor Jose Benito A. Alonso, Municipal Mayor.*
