Man shot dead in Candoni
Police authorities are looking at an estafa case filed as the reason a victim was shot dead around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday by unidentified suspect in Purok Gumamela, Barangay West, Candoni town, Negros Occidental.
Police Senior Inspector Jaynick Bermudez, Candoni PNP police chief identified the victim as Jeffrey Jealson Amar Tamises, 39, married, resident of the place.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds on his left face and right shoulder and was rushed to Candoni Rural Health Unit but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician.
Police recovered two empty shells of .45 caliber at the crime scene. The suspect is about 5 feet, 5 inches in height, wearing black shirt and black hat.
Police investigation disclosed that the victim was seen earlier in front of Quirico G. Manzano Memorial National High School waiting for his teacher-wife.
The victim was later seen approaching Rusi motorcycle outlet when the unidentified suspect saw him and disembarked from his motorcycle and confronted the victim.
Jernick Moreno, an employee of Rusi Marketing told them to settle their problem outside and not inside his store.
The two went out still shouting at each other and suddenly a gunshot was heard and the victim fell to the ground, while the suspect fled.
It was also reported that the victim was receiving threat in his cellphone.
Police was facing a blank wall on the shooting, but later learned that the victim has an estafa case for his failure to settle his accounts for the fighting cocks he bought from a breeder.*(CMG)
