After almost 2 months of tough battles on the hardcourts, teams from University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos will face separate opponents in tonight’s Negros-Villa Angela FC Futsal Tournament finals – Bata FC in the men’s division while University of St. La Salle for the women’s side at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center.

UNO-R takes their La Sallian counterparts at 7PM followed by the UNOR-Bata FC face-off at 8PM.

Meanwhile, Negros United and Tanless will battle for the third place.

Reigning AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal champions Ceres Negros FC will be arriving today at the Bacolod-Silay Airport on board the Philippine Airlines for their Tuesday’s match against visiting Boeung Ket Angkor FC from Cambodia on February 13 at 7:30PM at the Panaad Park and Stadium.

This is the only time that the Negros-based club finally returned home after exited from the 2018 AFC Champions League qualifiers in Tianjin, China.

An ex-convict was arrested in a drug bust by police operatives in Barangay Piapi, Dumaguete City around 2:50 p.m., Wednesday, February 7.

Joint elements of Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Provincial Intelligence Bureau-Special Operation Group, Dumaguete City Police Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested Carlito Duran, 40, an ex-convict and resident of said place.

Police confiscated from him twelve (12) sachets of “shabu” weighing about 7 grams, one lighter and cash proceeds amounting to P2, 000.

A drug suspect was arrested in buy bust in Barangay 1-B, Manapla town around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Police Senior Inspector Julius Caesar Colado, Manapla PNP chief identified the suspect Helan Naranjo Magalona, 38, married, of Barangay 2, Manapla, Negros Occidental.

Confiscated from the suspect was an elongated transparent plastic sachet containing “shabu” as buy bust item; three small sachets containing “shabu”; and P500 marked money.

The suspect was detained and charged for violation of Section 5 and 11 of Article II of RA 9165.*(CMG)

A motorcycle-riding man was pinned by two motorcycles going north of Bindoy town along Barangay Poblacion of the national highway around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.

As a result, Rey Torres Vailoces, 39, married, of Barangay Domolog in Bindoy town, Negros Oriental was hit on his right leg and rushed to Bindoy District Hospital.

Vailoces was surprised when the motorcycles overtook and sandwiched him; the one on the right side open fired to the motorcycle on the left side hitting his leg.

A man standing at the back of a cargo truck was killed when he was overran by it as it changed gear to reverse motion in Sitio Coyaoyao in the barangay road of Barangay Inolingan, Moises Padilla around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. The area is mountainous and dark.

The victim was identified as Mark Jhon Villanueva, 22, single, of Purok Sambag, Barangay Inolingan, Moises Padilla. He was fatally bumped by the rear tire of the cargo hitting him on the head.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) finds the first week of the police force’s return to the government’s anti-drug war operations, dubbed Oplan Tokhang 2, generally peaceful and encouraging.

The DILG said it continues to monitor the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) adherence to the rule of law and the new operational guidelines in the government’s anti-illegal drugs operations.

Deputy Speaker Sharon Garin of AAMBIS-OWA Party-list was a member of the bicameral conference committee on Republic Act 10963 or the Tax Reform, Acceleration and Inclusion Law (TRAIN). She also championed the exemption of coconut sugar-sweetened beverages from excise tax in order to protect its growing industry.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has ordered public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators to grant a 20 percent discount to persons with disabilities (PWDs).

LTFRB Memo Circular 2018-004 states that PWDs can avail of discounted fares so long as they present documents, such as an identification card issued by the National Council for the Welfare of Disabled Persons or local government officials.

Iloilo, Bacolod, General Santos, and Cagayan de Oro are among emerging cities where property searches online were picking up in 2017, according to the chief of Lamudi Philippines.

Online marketplace for properties Lamudi Philippines revealed that most Filipinos are looking for house and lot properties, but inquiries on residential condominiums are increasing.

In a press briefing yesterday, Lamudi Philippines Chief Executive Officer Bhavna Suresh said 59 percent of its property searches in 2017 were house and lots.

A businessman, reportedly bodyguard of former Don Salvador Benedicto (DSB) Mayor Joemax Ortiz, was flagged down in a checkpoint at the town along the highway of Purok Saging, Barangay Igmaya-an around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday and yielded firearms.

Police Senior Inspector Joevito Bose, DSB police chief identified the victim as Renato Lacson Bunan, 54, single, of Block 1, Phase 1, Fatima Village, Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City.
