Olvinada turned it over to DENR-CENRO Cadiz on February 2, 2018 at 9:35 AM, and was released on Feb. 6 at 4:05 PM at Santan II in Old Sagay, Sagay City, through Carolyn A. One of the highlights of the 13th Bacolaodiat Festival on February 15-18, is the adoption of the famous veteran singer, Jose Mari Chan as adopted son of Bacolod, by virtue of SP Resolution authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito as requested by the Bacolaodiat Inc. through Jennifer Gochangco-Ongpin, chair of Bacolaodiat Inc. in cooperation with the Tsinoy community of Bacolod City, at the same time honorary mayor during the Chinese New Year celebration as per Executive Order No. 6 signed by Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

The Philippine Association of Medical Technologists Inc. (PAMET) Negros Occidental Chapter, the official Program Partner Host of the Project CARES RS10P “BLOOD 4+ LIFE (Blood Donation and Pledges Registry Program)” has started to intensify its campaign strategies for promoting blood donation by extending free blood typing services starting at Lopue’s East Centre in Bacolod City through the accommodation of its Marketing Manager, Ms. Katrina Camille Lopue.

Selected Social Security System (SSS) branches under the Visayas West 1 Division, which includes the provinces of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental, have extended office hours during weekdays, from 5 pm to 7 pm, and are open on Saturdays for the whole month of February.

SSS Bacolod Lacson and Dumaguete have extended the office hours of its cashiering and Member Services Section (MSS) to accommodate paying members and employers in connection with the implementation of Real Time Processing of Contribution (RTPC) system.

On their 7th consecutive year, the St. Scholastica’s Bacolod Alumnae Foundation, Inc. (SSBAFI) and the Province of Negros Occidental will be co-presenting “Run And Save A Life 7”, a charity run/walk event on Sunday, February 11, 2018, 4:30 a.m. at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon. Race categories include 3k, 5k and 10k courses. Still included in this year’s event are the 6th Kolasa 3k Batch Walkathon (open to all SSA-B batches) and the 6th Belo 5k Group Walk Challenge to be sponsored by the Belo Medical Group and participated by the Capitolville Walkers, Sta. Clara Homeowners’ Association, St. John’s Institute Alumni Association and USLS Alumni Association Bacolod.

An unidentified body of a drowned man was found in the seawater in front of Sitio Malatapay, Barangay Maluay, Zamboanguita town, Negros Oriental around 3:45 p.m. last Tuesday.

The victim was wearing an Underarmour brand boxer shorts; black/blue shirt and was about 40 to 50 years old, with head lamp.

The victim was found by a boatman.

An elderly man was found by his children hanging in an Indian Mango tree beside their house in Sitio Lukay Village, Barangay Camigawan, Kabankalan City around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police Superintendent Rhea Santos, Kabankalan PNP chief identified the victim as Elesio Guarino Quimpo, 70, widow, farmer.

She was found by his daughter, Ritchel Quimpo Olimpo, 31, after doing her laundry in a creek about 60 meters from their house.

She then informed her brother Rolando and detached the victim from the tree and reported the incident to police.

187 individuals surrendered/appeared.

Negros Occidental aimed to be a “net exporter” of rice amid the provincial government’s efforts to increase its production and sufficiency level, Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday.

The governor made the statement as he assured Negrenses that the province has enough rice supply amid continuing concerns on decreasing stocks.

“There is nothing to worry about,” Marañon said, adding that damage and losses brought by pests and calamities would not hurt local production much.

The counsel of Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the dismissal of the administrative and criminal cases against his client on the alleged anomalous procurement of PHP49-million worth of furniture and fixtures was both a vindication and an answered prayer.

“The mayor can now move on with his daily tasks without being distracted by these cases,” lawyer Joselito Bayatan said in a press statement.

As of yesterday, Leonardia had yet to issue his own statement on the latest development where he was cleared by the Sandigabayan.

A person wanted for murder retaliated with the arresting police operatives when he was served with an arrest warrant for his crime around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday in Sitio Amparo, Barangay Mabini, Escalante City.

Police Chief Inspector Rollie Pondevilla, Escalante PNP chief identified the suspect as Joy De La Cruz Victorama, married, resident of the place.

The suspect was served with the warrant issued by Kathrine A. Go, Executive Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 57 in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental. No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.

2,538 teacher-volunteers needed for the electoral registration board

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is 85 percent ready for the conduct of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections on May 14, exactly 96 days to go.

This was how the electoral body described it, as it highlights its countdown to Election Day.

Comelec Director and Spokesperson James Arthur Jimenez admitted to reporters on Tuesday that Comelec still had concerns in Mindanao, where preparations could not be at full speed ahead.
