The Orange-AA Electrical and POC were on a rubber match of the Best-of-3 finals in the 2018 D-League Basketball Tournament at the STI-West Negros University gym.

This after AA Electrical survived POC in Game 2, 66-63 behind Junvil Juayong’s 13 points – 11 in the second quarter.

POC jumpstarted with 16-6 blast in the opening period as Emman Go hit 9 points and Jun Ysmael added 7 markers while George delos Reyes hit 3 points for Orange.

The Bacolod Tay Tung High School and STI-West Negros University came out with solid games to end the elimination round atop the table of the 2018 National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Bacolod Leg.

BTTTHS down St. John’s Institute, 109-80, and Negros Occidental High School, 103-58 to book a 4-0 slate in Bracket A while dropped SJI in No.2 spot with 3-1 and NOHS at No.3 with 2-2.

Completing the Bracket A standing are No.4 Bata National High School (1-3) and Trinity Christian School (0-4).

The composite team of the army’s 301st Infantry Brigade, stationed at Camp Hernandez, Dingle, Iloilo, and the 3rd Infantry Division, with the Civic Construction Action Detail-Panay (CCAD) of the army’s 552nd Engineering Construction Battalion, and the NMCB Four of the US Navy, turned over the other day two-classroom building and a school stage they built, to the school administration and pupils of Binangkilan Elementary School in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.

The Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) has junked the appeal of a quarry operator in Negros Occidental who was found guilty of using “fake tickets”.

Lawyer Wilfredo Ramon Penalosa, provincial environment management officer in a letter dated January 29 addressed to Melvin Ibanez of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental denied allegations that the provincial government has “no resolution” on the case.

Four persons, including a minor, were injured after the cargo truck they were riding fell on its side while negotiating a curve carrying carnival rides along the national highway in Barangay Caningay, Candoni town around 7:30 a.m. on February 3.

Police Senior Inspector Jaynick Bermudez, Candoni PNP chief identified the victims as Jun-Jun Acbu, 36, married, of Catbalogan, Samar; Ma. Lourdes Docal, 32, married, Filadelpo Gabumpa Gayundato, 31, married, and a two-year old boy Aldrias Wesly Rosal Acbu, all of Sta. Fe, Leyte.

A drunk stabbed dead his companion in Sitio Alambre II, Barangay Tuguis, Hinigaran town around 6:45 p.m. on February 3, 2018.

Police Senior Inspector Jake Barilla, Hinigaran PNP chief identified the victim as Dionito Elecanal Pabalinas, 60, widower, of Sitio Alambre II, Barangay Tuguis.

He sustained multiple stab wounds in the different parts of his body and was rushed to Hinigaran Medical Clinic, but was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Janssen Vergara.

The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) and the Negros Occidental Provincial Government will conduct simulation drills in areas surrounding Kanlaon Volcano, Zephard Caellan, head of the provincial disaster management department, said.

Caellan yesterday said that it will be the OCD through regional director Jose Roberto Nuñez who will set the schedule for the drills as he wants to lead the activity.
