This year 2018 Tawo-Tawo Women Beach Volleyball in Bayawan City lured eight teams from other parts in Negros Oriental and Cebu City at Talipapa in Boulevard in Bayawan City which will start on February 10-11.

The eight teams are bracketed into Pool A with UNO-R of Bacolod City, RJ Siaton, Bayawan City, and Timagrey of Dumaguete City.

In Pool B are Cebu Ninos, Foundation Preparatory Academy-Dumaguete, St. John’s Institute of Bacolod, and Enrique Villanueva-Siquijor. Each team will play each other in each bracket.

Summit posted its third win against winless Ultimo, 83-65, while Sunkist hold off Barista, 74-71 in Class B of the the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Cup at Po Hang Gym at Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Barista held a 41-39 with Jas Gueverra and Luigi Coo with 13 points each and Dirk with 7 against Sunkist Lito Dumdum and Chibon Uy with 7 each and Joemarie Satam and Ruel Bahian 6 points.

Barista equalled the output of Sunkist behind Pao Pao Lim 8 in the 3rd canto to keep a 57-55 lead going to the 4th quarter.

Many people express the sentiment that the so-called maintenance medicine seem to be a cross that has to be borne by whomsoever had that life altering experience of having a physician scribble a host of 'til-death-do-us-part drugs into a prescription pad and point them towards the appropriate pharmacy.

Such sentiment is not entirely misplaced given the prices of many pharmaceutical products, which, public knowledge have taught us, are driven by, inter alia, advertising, bureaucratic red tape, and more nebulous person-to-person transactions that would be best left in the periphery, lest we invite the ire of the persons basking in those nebulous affairs.

LACK POLITICAL WILL - While we respect the 16 Million Filipinos, some of them our kith and kin, and we don't begrudge them for that seemingly misled, if not hoodwinked decision for the existence of the present leadership in our motherland Philippines, yet we are wondering what significant factors that convinced them in pinning their hopes for change that was a mere perfunctory and superficial political promise deeply-rooted on hollow ground.

Bago City, Negros Occidental – Convening the finest young leaders of Negros Occidental for an intensive 5-day boot camp, the Negrosanon Young Leaders Summit (NYLS) gathers 30 leaders together coming from all over the province for a project development mentorship on January 31, to February 4, 2018 at Buenos Aires Mountain Resort.

A laborer from Mabinay, Negros Oriental, allegedly suffering from a mental illness, was shot and injured by responding police operatives of La Carlota City at Hacienda Fe in Barangay Batuan in La Carlota past 11 in the morning of February 2.

The suspect was identified as Rudy Montejo Silabai, 33 of Mabinay in Negros Oriental.

A contractor of Hacienda Fe, George Cruz requested for police assistance saying the suspected was creating trouble and threatening everyone in the hacienda.

Illegal drugs and firearms were seized from six persons, including a minor, in two separate drug buy bust operation in San Carlos City in the afternoon of February 2.

Police Superintendent D’ Artagnan Katalbas, San Carlos PNP chief named the suspects as Allan Avenada Savellano, 48 of Barangay 5, San Carlos; John Paul Sostamayor Hermoso, 22, single of Oblation in Vallehermoso’ Negros Oriental; Salvacion Valiente Bulado, 32, married of Barangay Rizal, San Carlos; and a 17-year old.
