Beer na Beer Strong-Young Lions defeated Cobra Plus Smart- Shakey’s, 91-88 in Class A of the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Cup in a battle of debuting teams at Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

The Young Lions took a 51-50 advantage at the half.

Both teams had equal output in the 3rd quarter setting up for a down the wire finish.

Marfel Gaitan scored 9 points to keep Shakey’s within striking distance but his effort fell short as Dondon De Lima stepping up at the right time and scored the last 5 points for Young Lions to hold on for the victory.

Ceres Negros FC Begins PFL Title Defense on March

After exited from the 2018 AFC Champions League play-off round on a 2-0 loss to Tianjin Quanjian FC, the Ceres Negros FC will begin its title retention in the 2018 Philippines Football League when it opens on March 3.

The official kick off schedule was finalized last Tuesday during the PFL Board Meeting held at the PFF House of Football in Pasig City.

Joselito Bayatan, met recently with renown international Architect Felino Palafox to discuss urban planning for the city.

Calatrava police arrested a suspect in the killing of an old woman reported missing and found with slashed neck around 6:30 p.m. Monday in a sugarcane field in Barangay Patun-an, Calatrava town.

Police Chief Inspector John Joel Batusbatusan of Calatrava PNP identified the suspect as Rodel Manait, 38, single, neighbor of the victim identified as Rebecca Bracamonte, 61.

Police is still investigating the suspect and may recommend him to a phychiatrist as police noted some inconsistencies in his statements.

Almost 35 members of the 65 First Batch of CIS/ACT-CIS from towns and cities of Negros Occidental have successfully completed the 5-month rigid training of Kali Instructor’s Survival Tactical Training Course Class No. 28-2018 Culmination Exercises held at Mambukal Summer Resort, Murcia, Negros Occidental recently.

The Bacolod City Veterinarian Office reported that 848 dogs were either surrendered or impounded in their office last year.

City Veterinarian Ma. Agueda Trinidad Fe La Torre said impounded dogs totaled 460, while those surrendered reached 388.

Dogs claimed totaled 41, adopted 128 and euthanized 679.

The month of August registered the highest figure for impounded dogs 131, surrendered 35, claimed 12, adopted 15, and euthanized 186. The month also posted the highest number for dogs that were either impounded or surrendered at 213.

Three drug suspects were arrested Wednesday in Himamaylan and Silay cities and town of Binalbagan.

Police identified the suspects as Jessie John Limsiaco Zamora, 21, “Alias Daboy,” of Tayom Street, Barangay 4, Kabankalan City; Yruz Perlado Hechanova, 21, of Freedom Boulevard, Barangay Mambulac, Silay and Alcher John Tinasas Miranda, 23, “Alias Toytoy,” single, of Barangay San Teodoro, Binalbagan.

Zamora was arrested in Sitio Riles Naga, Barangay Su-ay, Himamaylan around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday by policemen led by Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez, Jr.
