Undefeated teams of St. John’s Institute (Huaming) and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos registered a 3-0 slate to take early lead in Brackets A and B, respectively, in the ongoing 2018 National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Bacolod Leg played at Natalio G. Velez gym in Silay City.

Over the weekend, UNO-R blasted Mansilingan Christian Academy (MCA), 103–54 followed by an 82-80 triumph over defending champions University of St. La Salle while Huaming defeated Negros Occidental High School (NOHS), 90-70 and Trinity Christian School, 114–27.

The just-concluded Dinagsa Festival 2018 - 1st National Mountain Bike (MTB) Circuit Challenge was a huge success following the participation of top bikers from the province.

Leopoldo Japitana Jr. ruled the Elite/Open category followed by Jessie Sanchez and Niko Bibit. Sanchez, on the other hand, dominated the Veterans division as Oliver Portillano and Regie Moleño settled for second and third places, respectively.

A woman was arrested around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday by Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office in Aldecoa Street, Barangay Daro, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

Police identified the suspect as Merli Wacay Jacuba, of legal age, of Oblation, Sta. Catalina town, Negros Oriental.

Several sachets of suspected shabu were confiscated from her in exchange for marked money. She is detained at Dumaguete City Police Station and charged with violation of RA 9165.*(CMGARDE)

 

Man with illegal possession cases nabbed

A motorcycle driver was killed in a mishap in the national highway of Barangay Poblacion, Mabinay town, Negros Oriental Wednesday.

The victim was identified by Mabinay PNP as Junry Abalorio, of legal age, of Sitio Bernisan, Barangay Tadlong in the town.

He sustained head and body injuries and was rushed to Mabinay Medicare Community Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
