An Ilonggo seaman who suffered back injury as ship maintenance in charge of OSM Maritime Services, received benefits from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through its Employees Compensation Program.
The 45-year old seaman, whose name was not divulged by DOLE Region 6 Office, is from the Municipality of Sta. Barbara, Iloilo. He has availed of
Php47,928.45 in the form of benefits under the Employees’ Compensation Program.

One of the two stabbing victims were killed after two suspects stabbed them from behind while at the dance floor in Lopez Jaena, Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City around 11:55 p.m. Monday.
Police Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez, Jr. identified the victim as Nonato Espenetra Logarto, 40, married, resident of the place. He sustained a stab wound in the left upper portion of his body.
His other companion was identified as Antonio Gamay Esperal, Jr., 72, married, also of the place. He also sustained a stab wound on his back but survived.
Several firearms and bullets were recovered by San Carlos City PNP left abandoned by unidentified suspect in Circumferential Road, Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental around 2:20 p.m. Monday.
Police Inspector Lamberto Mirande and his men were conducting checkpoint at the area when they saw one .22 caliber loaded with three bullets believed thrown by unidentified suspect who passed at the checkpoint.

A man who was walking along the road of Sitio Mabuhay, Barangay Gil Montilla, Sipalay City was killed when bumped by a tricycle around 7:25 p.m. Tuesday.
Police Chief Inspector Romeo Vargas, Sipalay PNP chief identified the victim as Vicente Muñez Pajardo, 45, single, of Sitio Mabuhay, Barangay Gil Montilla, Sipalay.
He sustained head and body injuries and was rushed to Merceditas Montilla District Hospital in Barangay Canturay, Sipalay, but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician due to traumatic brain injury secondary to vehicular accident.
A construction worker and a woman were arrested in separate drug bust in Talisay and Silay cities Tuesday.
Police identified the suspects as Eduardo Alontaga Laudio, Jr., 39, married, construction worker and resident of Barangay Zone 4A, Talisay City and Dianita Deguira Palaras, 49, widow, of Purok Kahilwayan, Barangay 2, Silay.
Laudio was arrested around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in Mabini Street, Barangay Zone 12, Talisay by City Drug Enforcement Unit led by Police Senior Inspector Joseth Catonina, under supervision of Superintendent Adonis Rosales.
A wife survived a shooting incident but her husband was not as lucky after two unidentified suspects riding in tandem shot them along the national highway in Rizal Street, Purok Sambag, Barangay Pilar, Hinigaran town around 1:50 a.m. Monday.
Police Senior Inspector Jake Barila, Hinigaran PNP chief identified the victim as Jonie Perez Noli, 49, of Purok Magnolia, Barangay 7, Bacolod City.
His wife identified as Hazel Maalat Noli, 48, also of the same address survived.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Negros Occidental has approved a Private, Public Partnership for the People (PPPP) venture for the renovation of the Provincial Administration Center, said Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.
The SP approved a PPP for the People (PPPP) ordinance following the template of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Lacson said the PPPP will be an avenue where the provincial government can partner with the private sector for infrastructure, health and other joint ventures.
The ongoing airport project of the Kabankalan City government got the needed boost with an additional P60 million fund from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for the concreting of the runway.
Mayor Isidro Zayco said the amount is in addition to the P30 million earmarked last year by DOTr for the runway concreting, making it a total P90 million coming from the national government.
Zayco said the city government of Kabankalan has been working for the realization of the airport for several years now with help from the Negros Occidental provincial government.
