Jimuel Ariola and Clifford Tecson connected crucial goals in the second half to lift host-Sagay North Negros in a 2-0 victory over erstwhile champions Ceres-University of St. La Salle to capture the crown in the 2nd Sagay Men’s Open Championship played at Sagay National High School.

After both teams settled for a scoreless first half, tournament’s “most valuable player” and “best triker” awardee Ariola scored on a rebound play in the 48th minute beating USLS’ keeper John Mark Jamelo deep of the right post.

Teachers are not happy with the pronouncement of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to increase their salary.

According to Dr. Gualberto “Bing” Dajao, Chairman of Alliance for Concerned Teachers (ACT) in Negros Occidental, they will not feel the increase of their salary because of the excessive cost of commodities. Plus, once the excise tax is implemented, the chain effect is more than double. Therefore, the P35 per day increase is not even enough for the bottled water they buy to quench their thirst everyday.

Police arrested the father who raped his daughter for two years in Purok Punta Cruz, Barangay Poblacion, Toboso town, Negros Occ. around 4:00 p.m. Monday.

Armed with an arrest warrant, Police Chief Inspector Ariel Pico and his men pounced on the suspect identified as Mamerto Gomez Calinsag, 40, married, resident of the place.

Judge Amy Alabado Avellano of the Regional Trial Court Branch-58 in San Carlos City issued the arrest warrant dated December 19, 2017 for the crime of “incestuous rape of minor”.

Ten houses were totally burned down, while another was partially damaged in a fire at about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in Purok Tangigue, Barangay Zone 6, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

Arson investigator of Cadiz Bureau of Fire Protection said that the fire started in the house of couple Jonel and Cecil Santillan, whose house was only partially damaged.

The fire was caused by a butane gas stove, it was pointed out.

The New Year’s Call is a traditional activity wherein all Philippiine National Police (PNP) members pay courtesy call to their commanders or key officials in their respective areas of responsibility.
