December 9, 16 & 23 (Saturdays), 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm.

December 30 (holiday), 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

A resident of Silay City was arrested with firearm in Victorias City along the national highway in Bangga Mallorca, Barangay 13, Victorias around 2:10 p.m. Tuesday.

John Rey Hilado, 27, single, of Sitio Cubay, Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City, temporarily residing in Barangay Capitan Sabi, Barangay Zone 5, Talisay was riding a Honda XRM 125 registered to Satnam Singh when intercepted in a checkpoint by Victorias PNP.

A driver of ambulant vendors was shot dead by three unidentified men around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday in Sitio Cambogui-ot, Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City.

Chief Inspector Romeo Vargas, Sipalay OIC police chief identified the victims as Jonel Carbadilla Villarosa, 37, married, of Purok Malipayon, Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay.

He sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his body and died on the spot.

A resident of Purok Hillside, Barangay Fabrica, Sagay City, Negros Occidental was found dead in his room around 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Police Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto, Sagay City OIC police chief identified the victim as Samson Sang-ang Dequito, 59, single.

His neighbors noticed that he failed to go out that morning only to discover that he was lying lifeless on the cemented ground of his room.

His relatives were informed and together with Ramar Pama Sivico, 50, married, a friend, informed police authorities.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana is urging the Filipino people to safeguard their respective communities from possible violent and treacherous acts perpetrated by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).

A foreign national was found dead around 11:00 p.m. Monday in Barangay San Juan, Sipaway Island, San Carlos City, Negros Occ.

Superintendent D’ Artagnan Katalbas, OIC police chief of San Carlos identified the victim as Bernardus Wilhelmus Maria Wakkers, 71, married, from Holland and residing in the island.

Army troops discovered a large New People’s Army (NPA) terrorist encampment in the hinterland of Barangay Buenavista in Himamaylan City Tuesday morning, spoiling planned rebel attacks.

Captain Ruel S. Llanes, Civil-Military Operations Officer of the 303rd Infantry (Brown Eagle) Brigade, said this was a result of intensified operations being conducted by the brigade and its subordinate units.

Lalnes, in a media statement yesterday, said the operations are designed to address alarming threats posed by terrorist groups in Negros.

Six robbery suspects were arrested by Sagay City police after serving arrest warrant issued by the court Tuesday in Sagay.

Police Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto, Sagay PNP identified the suspects as Jomel Pastorpede Amelio, 23, single, “Alyas Letoy”; Ronald Cabahug Amelio, 44, married; Gina Gumban Amelio, 49, married; Danilo Cabahug Amelio, 55, married; Antonio Sabordo Amelio, 62, married and Armando Salinas Amelio, 30, single, all of Sagay City.

Negros Occidental Rep. Alfredo Benitez yesterday filed a resolution seeking an investigation into the continuous drop in the mill gate prices of sgar in the country.

Benitez, in House Resolution No. 1512 said, the latest data for crop year 2017-2018 “showed that mill gate prices continued to decline starting September 2017 dropping by 26 percent to P1,190 per 50- kilogram bag as of November 5 from P1,618 per 50-kg bag in the same period last year.”
