Three teams of Negros Press Club (NPC) won over Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)-Negros Occidental Chapter lineups on Saturday in the just-concluded 2017 Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) NPC-KBP Medial Bowling Fellowship Games at Negros Super Lanes in Bacolod City.

Royal Star Trading defeated Basecom, 82-73, to be crowned as champion of the 2nd conference Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. Inter-Color Basketball Tournament last Monday at Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Most Valuable Player Arnol Laureño dominated the low post and finish with a game high 20 points as Nico Lopingco added 19, Uy shot 11, DK Equipaje drilled 12, and Jason Yap with 6 points.

The Ceres Negros Football Club and Global Cebu FC drew first blood as they took the Leg-1 of the 2-legged semi-final matches of the 2017 Philippines Football League (PFL) at the University of Makati and Rizal Memorial Stadium, respectively.

Both clubs got some chances in the first half as Kaya FC-Makati’s Marwin Angeles invaded Busmen’s defense but Roland Muller picked the ball.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia welcomed the new arena where cases against him and other city officials on the alleged overpriced furnitures and fixtures will be taken up, this time on the criminal aspect.

Leonardia said, the Sandiganbayan “is another playing field. This is another level of the judicial system. So for us, this is now an entirely new ballgame.”

Of all industries, only the sugar workers receive lots of benefits from the government.

Thus said Atty, Johnson G. Cañete, regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6, who was in town over the weekend for the monthly regional coordinating council conference.

Canete said, aside from the benefits from the Social Security System (SSS), any sugar worker who is certified worker in a certain hacienda, in case of work related death, his/her family receives death/burial benefits from DOLE in the amount of P10,000.

The 13th Bacolaodiat festival, set on February 15 to 18, 2018 is calling all interested dance groups with a minimum of 25 members for an audition or screening on December 9, 2017 at the Yong Tho Taoist Temple for the Bacolaodiat Festival Lantern Street Dance Competition.

Dance groups may come from private and public schools, barangays, cities and municipalities in the province or a combination.

Out of the participating dance groups, 10 will be selected as official entries to the 2018 Lantern Street Dance Competition.
