Jukkendo founder Nori Bunasawa Sensei conducted the 1st Philippine Jukkendo-Judo Seminar - Bacolod Leg 2017 on October 13 at the Tribu Hangaway Philippines (THP) Gym, Galo St., Bacolod City.

The 68-year old Ninth Dan Red Bunasawa Sensei is a White Belt Kodokan (2016) and a 10th Dan Jujitsu.

The new wage rate of domestic helpers or kasambahays in Western Visayas as approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), is P3,500.00 per month effective December 8, 2017.

This includes those in the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Iloilo, Capiz, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental, according to Amalia Judicpa, DOLE 6 PIO.

The new Wage Order was a result of the two public hearings conducted on October 17 and October 23, 2017 in Iloilo City and Bacolod City, respectively.

Nine (9) cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental were awarded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) the Seal of Good Governance Award at the ceremony yesterday afternoon in Pasay City.

Awardee LGUs are the Cities of San Carlos, Silay, Sagay and Bago City; and the municipalities of Don Salvador Benedicto, Valladolid, Pontevedra, Candoni and Hinobaan.

Joint elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)- Dumaguete City and Mabinay PNP raided a house in Sitio Tubod, Barangay Paniabonan, Mabinay town, Negros Oriental around 8 p.m. Saturday, and were able to confiscate firearms.

Police, however missed the suspect identified as Rolando Bacurnay after he sensed the approaching police operatives.

A person who started a commotion at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday was arrested by responding cops who were able to seize a firearm at Center Mall in Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City.

Superintendent D’ Artagnan Katalbas, San Carlos City PNP OIC chief identified the suspect as Mario Alquiza Gonzales, 28, single, carpenter, resident of Ylagan Extension, San Juan, Barangay 6, in the city.

Alleged members of the Communist Party of the Philippine-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) reportedly threw grenade at a backhoe owned by a barangay official around 9:30 p.m. Sunday in Purok Catilingan, Barangay Orong, Kabankalan City.

Kagawad Raquel Seguero, 48, of Barangay Hilamonan also in the city reported to police around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

She claimed ownership of the backhoe for her quarry operation. She added that an undetermined number of suspected CPP-NPA went to the place and threw a grenade that blasted the heavy equipment.

For the benefit of those who want to pursue college education but could not afford tuition fees, and of students currently enrolled at Bacolod City College College (BCC), members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod, through a resolution by Councilor Caesar Distrito, are requesting the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to fasttrack BCC’s accreditation.

According to Distrito, earlier this year, CHED and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) had released the guidelines on the granting of free tuition to students in state universities and colleges.
