Basecom stopped Silver Dragon Transport, 76-74, while top seed Royal Star Trading defeated JSY Transport, 58-50, in the quarterfinals of the 2nd Conference Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. Inter-Color basketball tournament at Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Silver Dragon Transport takes the opening quarter, 23-12. But Basecom roared back in the 2nd quarter to take a 45-33 advantage at the break.

Silver Dragon cut the deficit anew at 62-57 behind the balance offense led by Bobil Alagaban 7 points.

The University of St. La Salle (USLS) football team successfully defended their NOPSSCEA title yesterday with a 3-1 win over University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Rams at the North Football Field in Talisay City.

Ceres Negros Football Club coached by Risto Vidakovic will try to beat the heat today when they face FC Meralco Manila in the ongoing 2017 Philippines Football Leagueat the National Training Field in Carmona, Cavite, 3PM.

On Tuesday’s post-match press conference, Vidakovic stressed that it’s not easy for them to play with some players coming off the injuries and national duty. “We are just here to finish the 28 games,” he said, adding, that they will try to survive tomorrow’s match with an expected 40 degrees temperature.

Western Visayas’ Police Regional Office (PRO-6) is urging the public to report the presence of any threat and extortion activities of the New People’s Army (NPA) to the police and the military.

In a text message to the Philippine News Agency (PNA), PRO-6 spokesperson, Supt. Gilbert Gorero, said the PNP and the Philippine Army “at all times are ready to defend the Constitution from terroristic act and preserve peace”.

Two college teachers of Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology (NONESCOST) in Barangay Old Sagay, Sagay City were killed and eight injured in a collision of motorcycle and tricycle along the national road of Villa Angela, Barangay Poblacion 2, Sagay City around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto, Sagay police chief identified the victims as Robert John Camuta Gella, 25, of Purok Jison, Barangay Poblacion, Sagay and his backrider Kristine Gepullano Cedenio, 29, of Purok School Side, Barangay 2, Poblacion, Sagay.

Three kids perished when fire razed their house in Barangay Felisa in Bacolod past 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon.

Victims were identified as 4-year-old Arthur Diloy, his 3-year-old brother Agerico Jr., and their 2-year-old sister Mary Auxencia alyas Kaykay, DYWB Bombo Radyo reported.

The kids were all alone inside their house, made of light materials, when the fire took place.

Their father, Agerico Diloy Sr. earlier left them to report for duty being a tanod of Brgy. Felisa.

When he left them, he padlocked the door of their house.

“We have the hospital, why don’t we use it?”

That’s the question that needs a big answer, Congressman Alfredo ‘Albee’ Benitez of the 3rd District of Negros Occidental said, as he was surprised when he visited the two station Medical Wards with 11 rooms of Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital New Annex Building Extension. He noticed there were no beds, no equipment, no patients and even no doctors and nurses where the on-going Nikki Cares Surgical Mission (Nov. 23 to 25, 2017) in Silay City is being held.
