The staging of this year’s ANOPSSAI meet in Murcia is beyond physical competitiveness. It’s a venue for spiritual growth, said Melinda Guanzon – principal of the host-Murcia Open Bible Christian Academy, in an interview during the opening rites last Wednesday.

The much anticipated 2017 Barangay Mansilingan Annual Fiesta Team Chess Tournament is all set to start off on Sunday, November 26 at A.L. Jayme Elementary School.

Organized by the Mansilingan Chess Society officers and members, this two-division chess event seek to gather the best and smartest woodpushers in the barangay level.

“Our chess club (ManChess) continue to hold monthly tournaments in several age-groups, so that they would improve their skills in this sport,” ManChess president Engr Nestor Cena said.

The City of Bacolod received two trophies and two certificates of recognition for being a finalist in the two categories of the e-Gov Awards 2017 at the awarding ceremony in Cagayan de Oro City Friday [Nov. 17].

Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. continued its energization efforts to Sitio Anangue, Brgy. Buenavista in Murcia as part of its Sitio Electrification Program (SEP), having 38 household beneficiaries, on November 14, Tuesday.

District 7 Board of Director Dwight Carbon, Area Manager Hernani Veniegas Jr. along with Area Engineer Joeme Talde and staff from Murcia Field and Bacolod Main offices led and facilitated the said program.

A firearm was left behind by an unidentified person inside a sack at the back of the Moises Padilla public market at Juan Luna Street in Barangay 5 at about 8 o’clock in the evening Friday.

Senior Inspector Allan Reloj, Moises Padilla PNP chief, said they received an information from two Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) members, Renante Ruales and June Ruales, both of Barangay Guinpana-an in the town, that a man left a sack while they were on roving patrol.

Reloj ordered his men to proceed to the area and investigate.

The Negros Occidental Drug Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc. (NODRFI) and the Negros Occidental Drug Rehabilitation Center (NODRC) and the City of Victorias in partnership with Colombo Plan and Dangerous Drug Board will hold a free 3-day live-in Seminar on Drug Reduction on November 21-23, 2017 at Gawahon Eco-Park in Victorias.

A team of training specialists on drug prevention control from the Dangerous Drugs Board will tackle a 7-module program on universal prevention curriculum on substance use in the span of three days.
