No less than the president of the Board of Directors of Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO) Roy Cordova announced that he opts to return to the consumers the P0.22 centavo increase in the billing considering that the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has recently ordered to hold the implementation of P0.22 centavo increase per kilowatt hour that has been effected by CENECO.

There are numerous quarry operators presently existing in the province even without necessary pertinent documents due to the continuous demand of stones, sand and gravel as a result of unstoppable infrastructure projects and building constructions everywhere.

In a radio interview, Atty. Jose Maria Valencia, Provincial legal officer of Negros Occidental said, due to this demand, they were able to discover fake quarry coupon from a quarry operator in Kabankalan City.

The Calatrava police and elements of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-6 have jointly arrested two murder suspects in the said town Monday after hiding for almost four years.

The suspects were identified as Arnel Jabaybay Moraca, 30, married; and Rolando Villarin Flora, 48, both of Calatrava.

Their arrest warrant was issued by Judge Danilo Amisola of the Regional Trial Court, Branch-58 in San Carlos City dated January 21, 2014.

The suspects are Top 5 and Top 7 most wanted persons in Calatrava town.

A senior citizen farmer was hacked dead by a laborer in a hinterland barangay in Cadiz City around 10:00 a.m. Monday in Purok Paghidaet, Barangay V.F. Gustilo.

Police identified the victim as Wilfredo Consolta Peraño, 69, married, of Purok Estacio, Barangay V.F. Gustilo, Cadiz. He sustained multiple hack wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Police tagged the suspect as Joan Pedronio Gasper, 22, single, laborer, of Purok Paghidaet, Barangay V.F. Gustilo, Cadiz.

A senior citizen was arrested recently in Bacong town, Negros Oriental after his arrested warrants were served for allegedly raping his two minor grandchildren sometime in May this year, in Barangay Banilad, Bacong.

The suspect was identified as Willy Sarte, 71, resident of the place. He is now detained at Bacong PNP jail.

Records show that parents of the victims went to the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) under Mr. Jessie Cañete to report the incidents.

The CHR conducted investigation and filed the case last September to the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

A barangay kagawad was arrested by elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Negros Oriental and Bais City PNP around 5:20 p.m. on Monday in a buy bust operation in Bais City, Negros Oriental.

Agent Jason Cabatana led the PDEA agents in arresting Dean Brian Ferraren Acas of Sitio San Jose, Barangay 2, Bais.

A suspected shabu worth more or less P2,500 was confiscated from his possession. He is now detained at Bais City PNP and charged with violation of Section 5, Article II of RA 9165.*( Cyrus M. Garde)

The management of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO) is reminding its consumers not to fall to individuals posing as CENECO employees selling “electricity-saving” devices.

“CENECO is not associated with these individuals and is not endorsing these alleged electricity-saving devices. No technical study has been conducted by CENECO that proves these devices reduce electricity bill,” a press statement signed by Ceneco General Manager Sulpicio “Jun” Lagarde stated.
