Despite falling short in its preparations, the Tchoukball Association of the Philippines (TAP) secured silver medal finishes in Men’s and Women’s divisions in the recently concluded 5th Southeast Asia Tchoukball Championship in Thailand.

The John Jamelo-mentored Men’s team opened their campaign with a 47-20 blast over host-Thailand B followed by 44-23 domination against Indonesia.

In Day 2, the Filipinos came out with another 53-29 victory against Thailand A while, demolished Vietnam, 50-14.

It was the last home game schedule to be played by Ceres Negros FC in Panaad and the crowd loved the sweet treat as the home squad dominated Philippines Football League (PFL) league leader FC Meralco Manila. The busmen dominated the entire game winning against the visiting team 6-0.

The World Health Organization has issued steps for everyone to take note in the prevention of suicide.

When a person is positive to having suicide thoughts and killing himself or herself people around should take action by never leaving someone suicidal on their own and removing the means of suicide available to the person if it is safe to do so.

Their immediate family members should be informed about the intention of suicide and collaborate for their safety, call for professional help and communicate with the person.

Series of activities are designed for the month-long celebration of National Children’s Month this November by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), with its theme, Bata Iligtas sa Druga. The celebration is giving emphasis on the giving of solid resources to kids. Children identified in this program are those in ages 13 to 17 years old.

According to Pacita Tero, head of DSWD-Bacolod, statistics show that there is tremendous increase of children who are either courier or user of illegal drugs.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran suggests that the Bacolod North Cemetery along Burgos Street should be closed considering that there is no more available space for burial of the dead in that place.

While Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. said before closing the cemetery, the local government of Bacolod City should buy a lot as location for the new cemetery.

The radio program initiated by the Provincial Environment & Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Negros Occidental under the leadership of Edgardo M. Rostata aims to inform the public of the purposeful activities the department is implementing specifically in the Province of Negros Occidental. It will be aired every 1st and 3rd Sunday every month at 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. which will update listeners of the projects, programs and initiatives done by the office. Environment related matters will be discussed as well as events spearheaded by the office and worthwhile activities that the community can also actively involve. It will also be an avenue for presenting the accomplishments done by the office in partnership with other stakeholders, non-government organizations and non-government agencies.

EnviroSerye will be aired by Bombo Radyo Bacolod 630 to be hosted by Ma. Theresa Robles and Keith Brandon Cari-an of PENRO-Negros Occidental.*

The BACOLOD CITY WATER DISTRICT informs the public that Lopez-Jaena Road will be partially closed for forty eight (48) hours on the following dates, due to laying of pipelines to improve the water service in the service area.

November 18 – 19, 2017 (north bound. Burgos Street is passable and south bound of Lopez Jaena)

November 25 – 26, 2017 (north bound. Burgos Street is passable

(except for east side – west bound) and south of Lopez Jaena)

The dead body of a person believed to be that of a foreigner was found in the stairway of a boarding house at Purok 1, Barangay Bantayan, Dumaguete City around 6:45 p.m. Sunday.

His identity was not yet available as of press time and is under investigation of Dumaguete City police as to the cause of his death.

He was brought to Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital, but was declared dead by Dr. Marie Julien Hitosis.

The victim was found lifeless by Marilyn Duran Culanibang in the boarding house owned by Ms. Catipay.*(CMG)

A man was shot dead by unidentified riding-in-tandem in Barangay Northern Junob, near Jasonville, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental around 10:50 p.m.

Police identified the victim as Carlito Rosales Caluco, 48, married, of Purok Nangca, Barangay Cadawinonan, Dumaguete.

The victim was riding his motorcycle when tailed by unidentified suspects from north to south direction. He was shot several times in the back and died on the spot.

The suspects immediately fled towards south of the province.

A security guard died in the national highway in Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental while riding his motorcycle around 11:25 p.m. Sunday.

Police Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez, Jr., Himamaylan City PNP OIC chief identified the victim as Ronnie Lim Buenaventura, 24, resident of Carabalan Road, Barangay 2.Himamaylan City.

He was driving his Rusi 125 motorcycle on his way home from north to south direction when he hit a signage on a constructed road. He lost control and fell down the road and sustained head and body injuries.

Three unidentified suspects robbed the passengers of Ceres Bus Liner with body number 5169 around 7:40 p.m. Sunday along the national highway of Bangga Ibus, Barangay Tortosa, Manapla town, Negros Occidental.

The fare collector, identified as Narvin Ejara Tapang, 21, single, of Toboso town lost P2, 000 collection and P500 personal money to the suspects who pointed him a gun and bladed weapon.

Negros Occidental Provincial Government and Philippine Army officials defended the preparations made during Friday’s “Heroes’ Welcome” event for members of the 31st Division Reconnaissance Company (31DRC) who recently returned from Marawi.

This came following comments through the social media criticizing the serving of canned sardines for the boodle fight after the ceremonies.

The Negros Occidental Provincial Government yesterday honored 45 centenarians and awarded five outstanding Negrenses in ceremonies that highlighted the commemoration of the 119th Negros Day, or Cinco de Noviembre.
