Calatrava, Bago City Road Runner, and Negros Road Stallion dominate the 17-Under, Open, and Executive categories respectively in the Cinco De Nobyiembre Marathon Relay that started in Barangay Tortosa, Manapla town yesterday.

Calatrava dominated the 17U group at 2 hours, 31 minutes and 58 seconds. They were followed by Maravilla (2:34.19), while Victorias City settled for third place (2:34.40).

Isabela Mayor Joselito Malabor said yesterday, his adminstration will move for the institutionalization of the Tigkalalag Festival after what he claimed as the successful relaunching of the festival last October 31-November 2, 2017.

A native of Guimbal, Iloilo and member of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) is fighting for his life after he was accidentally hit by his own service firearm inside their office at the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (NOCPPO) compound in Barangay Estefania Friday.

SSgt. Jun-Jun Elbanbuena of Guimbal sustained gunshot wounds on his left chest that exited at the back.

The Air Force officer was cleaning his .45 caliber service firearm inside the Tactical Operation Group-6 at NOCPPO while sitting on a plywood.

Two lifeless bodies were found in Kabankalan City and Murcia town Thursday.

In Kabankalan, Supt. Rhea Santos, city police chief identified the victim as Pilo Germino Layan, 56, single, laborer of Purok Avocado in Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan.

He was found lifeless 8:30 in the morning Thursday in a grassy portion about 20 meters from his house. He has wounds on his face and upper portion of his eyes believed to be signs of having been hit with hard object.

Unidentified armed shot dead a man inside the house of his sister in Sitio Alamay in Barangay Tabun-ac in Toboso town around 11:30 in the morning Thursday.

Police Chief Inspector Ariel Pico, Toboso PNP chief identified the victim as Allan Tingal, 34 of Sitio Cotcot also of Tabun-ac, Toboso.

He sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body and died on-the-spot.

He was resting inside the house of his sister when shot by about six unidentified suspects.

His brother, Alberto reported the incident to police authorities.

Police arrested two wanted persons with qualified theft cases in Victorias and Silay cities last November 2.

Superintendent Herman Garbosa, Victorias PNP police chief identified the suspect as Jomar Derayo Labadia, 41, married of Sitio Cubay in Barangay 6-A, Victorias. He was charged with 108-count qualified theft and charged in court.

Judge Dyna Doll Tiongson-Trocio of the Regional Trial Court, Branch-40 in Silay issued his arrest warrant dated October 5, 2017.

The court recommended P40,000 bail bond fpr each count for his temporary liberty.

An American national was found lying unconscious inside his room at Purok Crotons A at Dela Peña Compound in Barangay Old Sagay, Sagay City Wednesday.

He was rushed to Lopez District Farmers Inc. Hospital (LODIFHI) where he was declared dead-on-arrival by Dr. Francis Villanueva.

Police Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto, Sagay City OIC police chief identified the victim as Ronald Anthony Prudence, 68, single of Sacramento, California.

Three persons lost their lives to a collision and a road crash in the cities of Bacolod and Cadiz.

In Bacolod, two persons died and another was injured when their motorcycle hit a tricycle running in the opposite direction, after overtaking a delivery van, Saturday night at Crossing Abada-Escay Relocation Site in Barangay Vista Alegre.

Police Station 7 records identified the victims as Joebert Ortiz, 33 of Abada-Escay, and Donnie Gerasmia, 41, married of San Dionisio Subdivision in Barangay Granada, all in the city.

What were the events leading to November 5, 1898?

When the widespread Katipunan-led uprising started in August 1896 in Luzon, the Spanish authorities became alarmed and took steps to control the situation. They became alert to signs of unrest by soliciting information or reports, watching public meetings, conducting investigations or check-ups of suspicious events. The Spanish concern was well-founded for by mid-August 1898, actual preparations for uprising were organized and preparations were moving fast in different areas, despite the seemingly peaceful situation.
