The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City approved on its first reading the 2018 Annual Budget of the City in the amount of P 2.. 250 Billion, during their regular session on Monday.

The said budget is P 250 Million higher compared to the previous year that is at Php 2 Billion.

A Negros-based party-list representative is pushing for the lump sum retirement benefits for barangay officials and workers.

In his proposal contained House Bills 0619 and 0618, Abang Lingkod party-list Representative Stephen Paduano wants village officials, including watchmen, members of Lupong Tagapamayapa, and barangay health workers (BHWs) to be given fixed honoraria and additional incentives and benefits to BHWs.

Padunao said that his proposal is now at the Technical Working Group of the House committee on local government.

A farmer was stabbed dead by a fisherman in Sitio Andulay, Barangay Si-it, Siaton town, Negros Oriental around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Richard Palalon Palomaria, 56, married, of Barangay Si-it, Siaton was drinking liquor with Jesusimo Jandog Tubio, 66, married, when a misunderstanding occurred between them. The farmer-victim sustained a stab wound on the left portion of his chest and died on the spot.

The suspect, who is also resident of the barangay, voluntarily surrendered to police operatives.*(CMG)

A man was shot dead by three unidentified suspects in Sitio Kabayabasan, Barangay Macagahay, Moises Padilla, Negros Occ. Sunday morning.

Police Senior Inspector Allan Reloj, Moises Padilla PNP chief identified the victim as Rudy Campaner, 50, construction worker in Cebu, married, of Sitio Abobolo, Barangay Macagahay, Moises Padilla. He sustained seven gunshot wounds on his body and died on the spot.

Three unidentified suspects are responsible for shooting the victim who was on the way home with his wife after purchasing stuff in the market.

A teenager was found partially submerged in the drainage of a fishpond around 10:00 a.m. Sunday, October 29, in Barangay Polo, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.

Police identified the victim as Ereneo Pacada, 19, single, of Barangay Tugas, Tanjay. He is believed to have drowned.

He sustained injuries in the head and neck. But police said they believe the victim had a seizure attack and accidentally fell to the concrete ground with protruding rock wall construction of the drainage system.

The victim was brought to the funeral parlor for autopsy.*(CMG)

A tricycle driver was shot dead inside the dance hall in Purok Villa Villeta, Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City around 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

Police Chief Inspector Richee Gohee, Police Station 4 head identified the victim as Ryan Tajanlangit, 25, of Purok Malvar-Cubay, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City.

A construction worker was shot dead, while his companion was wounded when unidentified suspect waylaid them as they passed along Hacienda San Ramon, Barangay Salvacion, Murcia town around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was identified by Senior Inspector Ronald Santillan, Murcia PNP chief, as Zaldy Montes of Hacienda Linasan, Barangay Salvacion, Murcia. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the head.

Wounded was Ryan Tumpong of Barangay Alegria, Murcia. He sustained a gunshot wound on his foot.

Seven wanted persons were arrested in Negros Occidental, two in Calatrava and one each in Kabankalan, Talisay, Murcia, Binalbagan and EB Magalona towns.

Reynaldo Gariola Baldomer, 50, single, of Barangay Patun-an, Calatrava town was arrested for estafa. Judge Ana Celeste Bernad of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 44 in Bacolod City issued his arrest warrant dated October 11, 2017. The Court recommended P40, 000 for his bail bond.

The highlights of this year’s Pintaflores Festival of San Carlos City in nothern Negros Occidental will be held this Sunday, Nov. 5 at the booming city’s sprawling City Hall and Center Mall grounds.

Capping the almost half-month activities, will be this Sunday’s Pintaflores Street Dancing, Paint Party, Ritual Competition, Hudyaka sa Pintaflores with celebrity guests, and the Grand Fireworks Display and street partying with various band groups.

This year’s Pintaflores not only focuses on the festival.

Two members of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) were relieved from their duties after separate complaints were filed against them.

Supt. Gilbert Gorero, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 said, Police Officer 2 Ryan Sagon and Police Officer 1 Kriscel Mae Doctora, both of Bacolod Police Station 8, were relieved, as they are being investigated, on orders of PRO6 Director, Chief Supt. Ceasar Hawthorne Binag.

The University of St. La Salle Stingers survived the tough challenge from National University Bulldogs on a shootout, 4-3 to reclaim the UniGames men’s football title recently at the Silliman University football field in Dumaguete City.

With both teams settled for a scoreless draw after the regulation and extension period, they went into the penalty shootout.
