Ellah J. Alvarado is one of the young rising Arnis players from Bago City, primarily known as the hotbed of boxing, producing two of the ten Olympic Games medalists from the Philippines namely brother Roel Velasco and Mansueto ”Onyok” Velasco. But not known to many non-Arnis aficionados, Bago is also a breeding ground of some of the best Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) systems in the province of Negros Occidental.

District 3 won this year’s 8th Governor Alfredo Maranon, Jr., Boxing Championship held at Sagay City gym on Friday. The champion district is composed of boxers from municipalities of Murcia & EB Magalona, and cities of Silay, Talisay & Victorias.

Ceres Negros Football Club Busmen displayed top level skills as they blanked the visiting JPV Marikina FC, 5-0, over the weekend in the ongoing 2017 Philippines Football League at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

The hungry Busmen controlled every inch of the Panaad pitch and broke JPV’s inside defense in 7 minutes with 3 goals from Fernando Rodriguez (3’), eventual ‘Man of the Match’ Bienvenido Marañon (5’) and Iain Ramsay (7’). JVP Dan Padernal was also surprised by the turn of events that occurred before his eyes.

Lizares III in one of the biggest Kasalan Ng Bayan in the City of Talisay by the #gwapongaserbisyo. Said Kasalan ng Bayan 2017 is the culmination program of the 25th Celebration of Family Day with this year’s theme: “Tungo sa Maginhawa, Matatag at Panatag na Pamilyang Pilipino”.

One of the biggest traditions in the Philippines is the observance of All Saints Day every November 1.

For many Filipino families, the “Pista Minatay” is a day of candles and flowers, visiting the tombs of departed loved ones, and a reunion of relatives.

SM City Bacolod announces its mall hours to all shoppers and mall goers on this occasion.

On November 1 (All Saints’ Day), the mall will open at 12noon until 9pm, while on November 2 (All Souls’ Day), it will be back to its regular hours of 10am to 9pm.

A Ramsar Convention executive challenged the members of the Negros Occidental Coastal Wetlands Area Management Alliance (NOCWAMA) to ensure both the locals and environment are benefitting from the management of the newest Ramsar Site in country.

Thousands of indigents from Barangay Ma-ao and neighboring communities in Bago City availed of free medical services, packs of goods, and medicines from the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) yesterday.


THE FIRST THOUSANDS of Ma-ao, Bago residents availing of medical services, medicines & foodstuffs. This is part of yesterday’s “Worldwide Lingap sa Mamamayan,” with 104 areas in the country alone hosting similar events, distributing some 400,000 bags of goods to indigent Filipinos.*

Government authorities enforcing strict measures to maximize security and safety of land, sea and air travelers this Undas Season are asking for public cooperation.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), the Land Transportation Office (LTO), the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other agencies also call on transport firms to abide by all the rules and regulations to ensure the safety of their vehicles and passengers.
