AACI Trading (4-1) and AACI Transport win its respective matches over their opponents last Wednesday in the ongoing 2nd Conference Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Ting High School.

The trading gets past Silver Dragon Transport, 66-65 while AACI Transport survived Huminova Tigers, 57-54 in overtime.

AACI Trading Mark Binguan knocked down a triple for the the marginal basket to break a 63-all deadlock with a minute left in the game but Ralph Ong powered his way to cut the lead to a single point.

DUMAGUETE CITY - Thirty colleges and universities have confirmed their participation in the 2017 University Games (UniGames) slated on October 22 to 28 in this city, Negros Oriental.

Participating schools arrives October 22 and 23 with the opening schedule at 4PM tomorrow, October 24 at Macias Sports Complex following the technical meeting of coaches and technical officials at 9AM on Tuesday. The competition will starts October 25 until October 30.

The group that President Rodrigo Duterte watched performing at the plaza was Brgy. 18, which siphoned all awards and was declared champion in the barangay category for the street dance competition.

BARANGAY 18 was the champion in the street and arena dance competition and bagged in Best in Costume, Best in Choreography, Best in Mask and Best in Concept.*

The Negros Occidental Provincial Government will raise funds to help in the rehabilitation of Marawi City that was devastated by a five-month war between government forces and ISIS-inspired Maute Muslim extremists.

Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., yesterday said he relayed the plan to President Rodrigo Duterte during the President’s visit Sunday night in Bacolod City for the annual MassKara Festival.

The Governor said he asked permission from Duterte to launch the project which he will call “Negros Cares.”

A native of Baguio City died in a road mishap along the National Highway of Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran town, Negros Occ. around 8:00 p.m. Saturday.

Restituto Macadangdang Ramos, 52, married, of Barangay 122, Baguio General Hospital in Baguio City and temporarily residing at Sitio Acacia, Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran town was bumped by a motorcycle with three persons on board, travelling from north to south.

The victim crossed the road from west to east when hit by the motorcycle.

An Army Sergeant died while two others were injured in a motorcycle mishap in Barangay Rizal, Sagay City, Negros Occ. around 1:00 a.m. Sunday.

Police Chief Inspector Roberto Mansueto, Sagay City PNP chief identified the victim as Sgt Glenn Padernal, 42, of Barangay Bagacay, Hinobangon town, Samar.

He sustained head and body injuries being the driver of the single motorcycle. He was declared dead on arrival at Alfredo G. Marañon, Sr. Clinic in Barangay Bato, Sagay City.

Injured were his companions Corporal Marlon Goto, 24 and Tonton Lizares, 30.

“Petmalu”, was how former local government secretary Mar Roxas described the allegations linking him to illegal drug trade.

Petmalu is a slang Filipino word meaning “super amazing”, to connote an unbelievable claim.

On his Facebook post Saturday night, Roxas said, “I don’t know nor have I any dealings with Serenio nor Odicta; as in zero.”

“I have been and am anti-illegal drugs and the record of arrests, confiscations and buy bust operations by the PNP during my time at DILG will show this. Clearly a poor and laughable attempt at fake news,” he said.

Eleven minors were rescued by the operatives of Silay City PNP after their parents complained to police that their children were missing and have not went to school for several days.

The minors were rescued around 5:30 p.m. Friday in Sitio Beranio, Barangay Lantad, Silay City, Negros Occ. according to Police Superintendent Noel Polices, Silay City PNP OIC chief.

As a result, police arrested a pedicab driver identified as Aldin Boy Dingco Rosales, 24, single, of Villa Hergon, Barangay Rizal, Silay City.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte hailed Bacolodnons for initiating the MassKara Festival to inspire optimism from the adversity brought by the ill-fated M/V Don Juan tragedy and economic dislodgment.

“Born from the unified efforts of locals to uplift the people’s morale from the hardship that hit the city of Bacolod and the island of Negros, the festival became a symbol of its people’s happy disposition and resilience during difficult times,” President Duterte underscored.
