In the evening of October 16, 2017, the Grand Lobby of the Bacolod City Government Center was jampacked with enthusiasts who came to appreciate the students of multi-awarded VMA Global College, who catwalked the ramp donning elegant, stunning and gorgeous creations of Mr. Edwin P. Benitez, renowned designer of gowns and barongs.

During the event dubbed “VMA MassKara Fashion Runway,” the fashion models, some Tourism and HRM students of VMA, gracefully walked the ramp to the tune of the MassKara festival jingle.

Bacolod-based Kami Mga Hubin teams - Lansky and Cosby led the opening day on Tuesday in the ongoing 2017 MassKara National Duckpin Bowling Tournament at Negros Super Lanes in Bacolod City.

Team Lansky toppled 1,076 pin falls in its first try, while Cosby came in second with 1,056 pfs during the first day of try-outs in the Men’s division.

Triple “D” of Iligan City spearheaded the Ladies division with 1,000.

A laborer was arrested after the Court issued arrest warrants for two cases along Burgos Street, Barangay 8, Kabankalan City around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Police Superintendent Rha Santos, Kabankalan City PNP OIC chief identified the suspect as Roljohn Tolosa Cabarles, 21, single, laborer, of Burgos Street, Barangay 8 in the city.

Judge Rosario Ester Orda-Caise, Assistant Judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch-61 in Kabankalan City issued the arrest warrants for robbery and theft.

The two arrest warrants were signed by the Judge on June 20, 2017.

Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO) informs its paying consumers that the CENECO Mabini main office will be closed today, October 19, Thursday. October 19 was announced as a non-working holiday in the observance of Bacolod City Charter Day.

However, the CENECO Collection Center at the South Wing, 2nd floor building of Robinsons Place Bacolod is open on the said date to accommodate consumers during mall hours at 10am to 6pm.*(The Management)

Technical works for the three-night Electric MassKara at the Tourism Strip in Lacson St. on Oct. 20 to 22 have started.

Two concert stages will be set up at 4th St. and 22nd St.

LED walls and LED arcs will also be set up at the designated areas across the Tourism Strip - the 20-block stretch of Lacson St. from 2nd St. to 22nd St. (North Drive).

SkyCable is setting up droplines for live feed, while Ceneco is increasing their power load in the area.

The corporate sponsors are also setting up their activation booths.

Consumer advocates urge the Committee on Energy of the House of Representatives to hold here in Bacolod City the proposed inquiry on the decision of the Energy Regulatory Commission authorizing the Central Negros Electric Cooperative to collect the P232 million differential billing from its consumers.

Fr. Chris Gonzales, head of the Social Action Center of the Diocese of Bacolod City, said that concerned consumers will prepare a manifesto requesting the lower house to hold the probe in Bacolod so that it will be easier for consumers to air their concerns.

Task Group MassKara, successfully implemented checkpoints all over Bacolod City, vowed to continue its operations.

Forty eight motorists were apprehended because they have no helmet, 17 for expired driver’s license, four expired vehicle registration, 10 without OR/CR, 16 under C.O. 356 S 2004 (open pipe muffler) and five other violations.

Still the PNP continues its round the clock checkpoint operation as part of the security and safety measures being implemented this MassKara Festival.

The Christian Artists National Various Arts Society (CANVAS) will be holding a group art exhibit on paintings and sculptures on October 29 to November 4, 2017 at the the AAB-Negros Art Walk in the Negros Museum, Gatuslao St., Bacolod City. Dubbed as “KURING”, the exhibit is in line with the National Cats Day celebration which is held every 29th October annually.

An old man reported missing for three days was found dead after he fell from a 150-meter high cliff in Sitio Gayas, Barangay Minoyan, Murcia town, Negros Occ. around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Senior Inspector Ryan Santillan, Murcia PNP police chief identified the victim as Luis Greavia Evangelio, 87, resident of the place.
