One of the biggest sports that are rooted by the Bacolod today is Volleyball – it has gathered much attention and has drew thousands that went to see their hard court idols. This time homegrown Bea Tan along with the marketing and promotions of the Premier Volleyball Tour, Charo Soriano brings the game to Bacolod on October 18, 2017 at the La Salle Coliseum.

Grandmaster Nigel Short (2698) and National Master Merben Roque (2309) defeated their respective opponents in the opening round to lead the 2017 Negros International Open Chess Championship at the Osbron Hall in Ikthus, Mandalagan, Bacolod City on Wednesday.

A neophyte police officer of Mabinay Police Station in Negros Oriental was found dead with gunshot wound in the head around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday along the National Highway at Purok 1, Barangay Poblacion, Mabinay town, Negros Occidental.

The victim was identified as PO1 Jay Ramel Nogra, 28, of Barangay Poblacion, Mabinay.

He has a gunshot wound in the head and was brought to Mabinay Community Hospital but was transferred to Medical Center Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police operatives of San Carlos City arrested a person in a buy bust operation and confiscated suspected shabu and firearm around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Barangay 3, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Superintendent D’Artagnan Katalbas, Jr., San Carlos City PNP OIC police chief identified the suspect as Jose Johnny Sevilla Pamilar, “Alias Bontog,” of legal age. He was confiscated with one small sachet containing suspected shabu in exchange of P500 marked money.

Another small and two elongated sachets of suspected shabu were also confiscated after he was frisked.

The family of a suicide victim is mulling on filing charges against his teacher at Ramon Torres National High School (RTNHS) for cyber bullying and for shaming him.

The family of Erichan Demafeliz, 15, a grade 8 student of Ramon Torres National High School in Bago City and resident of Purok Acacia, Barangay Napoles, Bago City is planning to charge the said unnamed teacher after the victim hanged himself in their house.

A rape suspect who hid from the arms of the law for nine years was arrested by combined police operatives in his temporary residence at Barangay Tinadtaran, Buenavista town, Guimaras province around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Arrested was Gamaciel Sinahon Gimpayan, 39, “Alias Ale,” married, native of Sitio Manaol, Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla town at his temporary residence.
