Aksyon Bryan Morden of DYEZ interviewed last Monday night a professor from Davao City who was robbed, along with his two companions, by riding-in-tandem gunmen when they visited Bacolod City for a professional conference last week (Sept. 20-22).

Receiving reports of robberies and thefts victimizing residents of Bacolod City is alarming enough. Listening to a tourist, who had high expectations of enjoying his Bacolod trip, narrate his ordeal at the hands of criminals lording it over Bacolod City raises the citizens' fear and disgust several notches higher.

A native of Anilao, Iloilo province was stabbed dead and two of his companions injured by a lone suspect in a beer house in Barangay Dos Hermanas, Talisay City around 11:05 p.m. Sunday.

Police Superintendent Adonis Rosales, Talisay City PNP chief identified the victim as Rocky Hubo, of legal age, driver.

He sustained a stab wound on his lower chest and was found by police lying on the ground lifeless outside Jay-Jay Beerhouse.

A former village chief (Barangay Captain) of Barangay Aguisan, Himamaylan City was arrested in a drug bust at 6:00 p.m. Monday in his residence at Purok 3, in the said Barangay.

Police Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez Jr., Himamaylan City PNP chief identified the suspect as Pedro Advincula Rivera, Jr., 72, “Alias Junior”, widower and a businessman.

The poseur-buyer, PO2 Erwin Lumaque bought one elongated sachet of suspected shabu in exchange to P5, 000 marked money from the suspect.

A construction worker was stabbed dead in Barangay Manlonsag, La Libertad town, Negros Oriental, at 12:05 noon Monday.

Police identified the victim as Samuel Sanoy, 45, single, of Barangay Manlonsag, La Libertad, Negros Oriental. He sustained multiple hack wounds in the body and was rushed to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Police identified the suspect as a certain Engie Fundador, of legal age, also resident of the place. He fled after the incident.

Police is now conducting investigation to determine the motive.*

A total of 6, 346 seedlings of 15 different varieties of fruit trees (two for every household) were planted in the 16 barangays of the Municipality of Isabela.

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reports that the crime volume in Bacolod has dropped.

Record shows, according to PSupt. Levy Pangue of BCPO, that in 2014 the crime volume was 5,677 but dropped to 3,5006 in 2015, another drop to 3,304 in 2016, also dropped to 2,403 and for the period January to August of 2017.

The highest crime committed was crime against property, recorded in 2014 - 2,145; 649 in 2015; 559 in 2016 and 506 in 2017.

Also, for theft, the highest commission was in 2014 which is 1207, but dropped in 2015 to 515; 2016 was 415 and 2017 is 332.

La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor Mangilimutan yesterday, Sept. 26, 2017 asked the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to validate claims made by a police chief linking her brother-councilor to the illegal drug trade.

Mangilimutan personally handed in her letter to the Office of PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino.

In her letter, Mangilimutan said that her brother, Councilor Alberto White Nicor is allegely being implicated in the illegal drug trade by Moises Padilla police chief Senior Inspector Alan Reloj.
