About 300 indigent residents of central Bacolod area availed of free medical consultation and medicines during Saturday’s medical mission conducted at the Ceneco Main Office.


Ceneco Director Jojit Yap, Kepco Marketing Manager Seong Hee Yoo, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Ceneco general manager Sulpicio Lagarde, Jr. and Kepco Assistant Marketing Manager Atty. One of the charging stations will be given to Bacolod City to be installed at the New Government Center, while the other will be installed at Ceneco Main Office. Another charging station was earlier donated to the Municipality of Murcia.*

Negros Occidental is home to attractive agri-tourism destinations.

Agricultural Technologist Melimar Sanogal of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) conveyed this statement over a radio program with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).

“Agri-tourism develops awareness in the community especially among those who are unfamiliar with the agriculture sector,” Sanogal said in the dialect.

A P63 Million substation will be constructed by Central Negros Electric cooperative (CENECO), Inc at Barnagay Banago, Bacolod City. CENECO Board President Roy Cordova revealed this during the midweek transparency meeting. He said, the substation will cater big consumers like Ayala, SM City, and big hotels.

The pre-bid conference for this project will be conducted today, September 22.

Three persons were arrested in a raid by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) –Bacolod and the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) and Victorias City PNP at Hacienda Malihao in Barangay 20 in Victorias City Saturday morning.

Police Chief Inspector German Garbosa identified the suspects as Edwin Donguines Abecilla, 49 married; Rolando Piansay Dela Cruz, Sr., 65, married, and Rolando Combate Dela Cruz Jr., 30, married, all residents of Hacienda Malihao in the barangay.

Five suspects, four of them having a pot session, were arrested in drug buy bust by Bacolod Police Station 4 Thursday night at Purok Amor in Barangay Villamonte in the city.

Police Chief Inspector Richee Gohee, police chief, identified the suspects as Dennis Ian Tortosion Cardenas, 27, single and temporarily residing at the place.

 A 6-year-old boy got killed while the driver and another backrider were injured when their motorcycle collided with a Nissan Pathfinder Pick-up at Bangga Tagnipis in Hacienda Amparo in Barangay Old Sagay in Sagay City Saturday night.

Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto, Sagay PNP OIC chief, identified the victim as Kienhon James Garcia Vistar, 6 years old, if Barangay Taba-ao in Sagay. He sustained head and body injuries and was declared dead-on-arrival at Lopez District Planters Foundation Hospital in that city.

The drug enforcement team of Police Station 2 led by its station commander, Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias Jr. was able to arrest another notorious crime group member, Edmar Derla Escala alias “Bobo”, 18 years old, single, of Purok Narra Baybay, Barangay 8, Bacolod City.

Two minors got drowned in a lagoon at Sitio Veto in Barangay Camindangan in Sipalay City Saturday afternoon.

Chief Inspector Romeo Vargas, Sipalay PNP OIC police chief, identified the victim as Lovely Mae Planas Apas and April Rose Basay Baynosa, both 13 years old and residents of Purok Lagundi in Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay.

Police investigation disclosed that the victims just finished harvesting peanuts and went swimming in a lagoon with their minor companions.

Two Hundred Thirty (250) persons and 40 establishments have been apprehended by the Bacolod City Anti-Smoking Task Force – Action Team since they started their operation on September 1, 2017.

Most of the violators were caught smoking in public places, like in the plaza and the downtown area while establishments were apprehended for not complying the required designated smoking area and warning signs and for tolerating smoking in their area.

A barber was shot dead around 11:40 in the morning yesterday in Purok Sigay in Barangay 2, Bacolod City.

Police Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias, Bacolod Police Station 2 chief, identified the victim as Roderick Mazo “Alias Shane”, 36 and temporarily residing at Purok Tilapia in Barangay 3, in the city.

He sustained a gunshot wound on his left eye and died on-the-spot.

Witnesses told Villarias the victim was walking in the street when an unidentified suspect wearing helmet and walked alongside and shot him.

Aguila defined professional squatters as those who were able to avail of the low-cost housing program of the government but sell the property and go back to their original squatting status and then ask again for another housing relocation project.

“They are those who intrude into the socialized housing area of the government. This is why the HUDCC is instituting a nationwide campaign to suppress and eradicate professional squatters and squatting syndicates, as per Executive Order 153 signed by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo,” he said.
