With one playdate remaining in August, champion bowler Dr Larnie Vencer stayed on the leaderboard in the ongoing Tenpin Masters Challenge (TMC) Season Four monthly qualifiers at Lopue’s East Bowling Center, Villamonte.

Vencer has the best record this month with 1,221 pin falls.

He registered his first highest set of scores of 612 pfs in the 1st playdate on August 1 and got a 609 in the 4th on August 15 including a plus 5 handicap points per game.

Sharing the Japanese culture to the Philippines, an International Film Festival kicks off at SM City-Bacolod that gathered various members of the academe, film enthusiasts as well as various socio-civic groups that were invited for the opening reception of the event.

A live-in partner trying to hide one small sachet of suspected shabu in Rhea Cold Rub ointment was arrested by alert jail guards at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in La Carlota City around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Jail officers identified the suspect as Romela Cabasag Sobrino, 28, single, “Alias Totay,” of JM Basa Street, Barangay 1, La Carlota City.

The Marang Festival, now on its second year, officially opened at the Provincial Capitol Grounds in Bacolod City, yesterday, with the theme, “Marang Innovations: Implication to Community Development”. It is participated in by five LGUs namely, Sagay City, Talisay City, La Carlota City, Calatrava, and La Castellana; they are selling freshly-harvested Marang fruits and other Marang-based products and delicacies such as ice cream, candies, polvoron, jam, and caramel tarts, coffee and many more.

A hacking suspect with a pending warrant of arrest for another crime committed in 2012, was arrested at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday in Barangay Chambery, Manapla town, Negros Occ..

Police Chief Inspector Edencio Gregorio, Manapla PNP chief identified the suspect as Cesar Casalda, Sr., “Alias Dodoy,” of legal age, married, of Hacienda Chambery in Barangay Caduha-an, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

The victim, Elmer Jenon Jasnice, 32, single, of Barangay Caduha-an was collecting woods when hacked by the suspect on the left shoulder without provocation.

A senior citizen watching his trees being cut died.

Police identified the victim as Ricarido Panaguiton Luntao, 72, widower, resident of Hacienda Parnaso, Barangay Cubay, La Carlota City. He was standing in a riverbank near his house when Joevil Semira Villanueva, 27, of Hacienda Guadalupe, Brgy. Ayungon was cutting the trees and one of its branches hit the head of the victim.

He was rushed to Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital in the city but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician.*(Cyrus M. Garde)

The clearing of Bacolod Public Plaza has started on Saturday, August 19. This is in preparation for the upcoming MassKara Festival 2017.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia has approved the improvement of the public plaza as window of the city, hence the vendors surrounding it were advised to vacate the area they were occupying.

According to Mayor Leonardia, he wants the public plaza to become a wholesome area for the families.

However, the vendors are begging from the city government to give them chance for their livelihood.
