The past years, the Bacolodnon’s had been looking for a league where they can identify themselves and that is where We drew the idea of coming up with the Congressman Greg Gasataya Basketall League. The said tournament was staged at the STI-WNU Gymnasium and has gathered humongous crowd rooting for their respective teams.

Aimed to improve and revive the golden age of sports under the administration of Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares, the 1st Talisay City Sports Development Summit 2017 was held last August 15 at the Dela Rama Hall of Talisay City Hall.

Around 300 stakeholders from the Department of Education and the 27 barangays of the city attended the event which is expected to be a significant milestone and a major turning-point for reviving the Talisay City sports.

The Dangerous Drugs Board Oversight Committee declared Barangays 5, 24 and 41 as first three drug-cleared barangays in Bacolod City after meeting the long list of criteria in order to be declared drug-cleared.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chairs the Oversight Committee with the Philippine National Police, Department of Interior and Local Government, the Department of Health and the local government unit as members. All Oversight Committee members are also members of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC).

Once again, the main campus of VMA Global College and Training Centers will have a festive atmosphere for 3 days from August 29 to August 31, 2017, for the celebration of its annual Sports fest 2017, dubbed VMA: Fostering Discipline and Excellence.

The primary aim of the 3 days festivity is to harness and showcase the students literary and athletic talents and abilities in a spirit of sportsmanship, friendship and camaraderie.

Due to the 90-day preventive suspension by the Ombudsman Visayas of Mayor John Rey Tabujara of Cauayan, Vice Mayor Rico James Tabujara, his cousin, assumed post per order of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), represented by Marites Joy Madayag, DILG Provincial DILG officer of Negros Occidental.

Madayag personally served the suspension order to Mayor John Rey last Friday, August 17, at the same time gave the order to Vice Mayor Rico James to sit as acting mayor while Mayor John Rey is serving his suspension.
