Defeated at home, Ceres-Negros FC was defeated by FC Meralco Manila. Meralco’s imposing attack on offense while making it very hard for the busmen to get the early advantage as it strengthen its defense from start to finish.

Five coastal stations will be constructed by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Bacolod.

According to Lt. Commander Jimmy Oliver Vingno, PCG Bacolod Station Commander, the five coastal stations to be constructed will cost P3 million to P7 million each, depending on the design of the building. These are located at the BREDCO in Bacolod City, Sipalay City, Sagay City, Lakawon in Cadiz City, and Brgy. Isyu, Cauayan. The lot or land areas of these coastal stations were donated by the respective land owners.

Dengue cases in Bacolod City has reached 888 for January 1 to July 31, 2017 only, wherein there were 7 deaths reported, according to the City Health Office (CHO). The latest death victim is from Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City.

CHO has declared hotspot barangays where there were higher dengue cases. Mandalagan - 31, Villamonte - 24, Mansilingan - 32, Banago, Alijis, Vista Alegre, Taculing, and Brgy. Sum-ag.

CHO personnel will start today the anti-dengue campaign by fogging and destroying the breeding places of mosquitoes.*(EBC)

Several rice farms in Negros Occidental are being attacked by grain black bugs according to the report of the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO).

Atty. Japhet Masculino, provincial agriculturist in a radio interview said, the black grain bugs look like lice that siphon the milky content of rice thus, destroying the plant.

Aside from rice, grain black bug also attacks mongo beans.

Mostly affected by grain black bugs are Kabankalan, Cauayan, and other areas in southern Negros Occidental.

One was stabbed dead in Gomez Street Interior, Barangay 2, Silay City around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Police authorities identified the victim as Oscar Elisa Sayon, 28, with live-in partner, resident of Matagoy, Barangay Rizal, Silay City.

He sustained stab wounds on his back and right foot and was rushed to Teresita Jalandoni Memorial Provincial Hospital but expired around 4:03 p.m..

Police identified the suspect as Ronald Tamarig Sianosa, 19, single, and one ”Alyas Tamay Palic,” both residents of Gomez Street, Barangay 2, Silay City .

A retired Philippine Army soldier was found dead in a hammock around 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday in his house in Kenon Street, Barangay 9 Poblacion, Isabela town, Negros Occ..

Police Chief Inspector Ruben Pajarito, the town police chief identified the victim as Jojie Regla, 60, widow. He sustained fatal stab wounds in his armpit.

The unidentified suspect fled after the stabbing.

Police is still investigating the incident to determine the motive.*

Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO) General Manager Sulpicio “Jun” Lagarde said, for billing month of June 26 to July 25, 2017, residential rate went down by 0.2787 centavos from P9.9235 to P9.6447 per kilowatthour.

“This will be reflected in your August bill,” he said.

“Systems loss is also down by 1% to 10.69% from 6 months average, January to June 2017 of 11.69%,” he said in his SMS to NDB last night.*(APT)

Agriculture Undersecretary for Special Concerns Ranibai Dilangalen in a press conference said there has to be a sacrifice for now in terms of movement of poultry products in and out of Luzon.

“With regards to the movement of the poultry products in the country, we have to sacrifice for now so as not to spread the bird flu into Visayas and Mindanao. Hopefully, we can contain the virus,” Dilangalen said.

According to Dilangalen, the situation is just momentary and that the Agriculture Department is trying to take control of the situation in San Luis, Pampanga.
