The NOHS/Kami Mga Hubin team climbed at No.1 after knocking down the best team output of the night during the 5th Inter-School Alumni Bowlfest 2017 game opener at Negros Super Lanes in Bacolod City on Sunday.

NOHS/KMH toppled 1,561 pin falls to set the highest team triple of the bowling festival. The team’s three game scores were 508, 526, 527.

Handog Titulo beneficiaries from Brgy. Colonia Divina, Sagay City received their Free-Patent title in the “Handog Titulo Program” which was held on July 21, 2017 at Brgy. Colonia Divina, Sagay City. Patents distribution is a yearly event by DENR to highlight the need to continue identifying and fasttrack land titling of A and D to the beneficiaries. The distribution of patents was awarded by the OIC, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Edgardo M. Rostata, OIC, CENR Officer Renato Sabinian, Registry of Deeds Admin. Aide VI Edgar Jerez and with the support of Sagay City Mayor Thirdy Marañon, SP members and Barangay Officials. A total of 157 patents were distributed and awarded to the fortunate beneficiaries of the said barangay.

Licensed divers from the Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENR) Cadiz City and the City ENR of Sagay were recently trained on coral assessment and applied the training in three reefs in Sagay Marine Reserve last June.

The Sugarcane Industry Development Act (SIDA) is the first law designed to support the farm structure to become efficient. It was created to overcome the challenges of sugar prices in worst situations, said Congressman Alfredo “Albee” Benitez, 3rd District of Negros Occidental at the Sugar Summit of Mill District Development Council held at the Natures Village Resort and Restaurant in Talisay City on Wednesday, July 26. Theme was “The Strategic Role of Mill District Development Councils in Sugarcane Industry Development”.

The members of Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City approved in yesterday’s session the resolution authothored by Councilor Ricardo Tan, urging the sixty one (61) Barangay Councils of the City of Bacolod to encourage their respective constituents and parents to bring their children to the health centers for deworming as part of DOH’S celebration of National Deworming Month this month of July 2017.

According to DOH-Negros Island Region, deworming for children is safe and effective and will benefit their welfare.

Considering the rainy season is on the onset, the City Health Office (CHO) through the Environmental Sanitation Division is appealing to the public to maintain cleanliness to eliminate the breeding places of mosquitoes and prevent the spread of dengue.

As of July 15, 2017, CHO record shows, 610 dengue cases in Bacolod City with 6 deaths. This shows an increase of 75.8 percent of dengue cases from January to July last year which was 347 only.

The remains of a Scout Ranger of the Philippine Army who was killed in Marawi City, Lanao Del Sur has arrived at Bacolod-Silay Airport at noon yesterday, Thursday.

He was met by his relatives and by assigned members of 303rd Infantry Brigade Philippine Army based in Minoyan, Murcia.

The fatality was Private First Class (PFC) Ramonito Occeña III, 27, of Barangay Manlocahoc, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.

Occeña was killed July 24 after an encounter with Maute group. He was killed by the rebels’ sniper and reportedly died due to loss of blood.

Two hold up suspects were arrested in a checkpoint in Silay City after they victimized a collector of Rusi motorcycle company in Purok Calantas, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Police Senior Inspector Elmer Bonilla, Police Station 4 said that riding in tandem suspects waylaid the victim identified as Danilo Vicente.

The suspects took his P17, 000 cash and escaped, but upon reaching Silay City they were halted at a checkpoint in Carmela Subdivision.

More violators were apprehended by operatives of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) as they implement Executive Order 22 issued by City Mayor Evelio Leonardia in consonance with Executive Order 26 of President Rodrigo Duterte banning smoking in public places.

Supt. Luisito Acebuche, head of BTAO, more violators were apprehended, many of them smoing passengers of public utility jeepney (PUJs).

A traffic enforcer was shot dead by riding-in-tandem suspects early Wednesday morning in Barangay Mabigo in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.

The victim was identified as Marcial Resaba, about 50 years old, married, of Purok Karay-a, Angas 2, Barangay Mabigo.

The victim was riding his motorcycle to report to duty when followed by two suspects in another motorcycle and was shot at the back.

The riding-in-tandem suspects immediately escaped to an unknown direction.

“I cannot confirm nor deny it, but if something official comes out I will make a formal announcement right away. So far, it is a speculation.”

This was the answer of Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Jesus “JV” Hinlo yesterday when asked by this writer on his say to reports that he will be taken out from the DILG.

As to his alleged transfer soon to a post at Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), Hinlo said, he did not receive any official paper on the matter.
