The Sabor Bisaya Food Expo and Culinary Competition 2017 is slated on July 19 - 21, 2017 at the SMX Convention Center, SM City Bacolod.

The event is spearheaded by the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Negros Occidental, Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines - VI, and National Food Showdown.

The opening of the event will showcase exhibit of different foods and other products of participating local and national companies, buyers-sellers exchange, and product demo/presentations.

A labourer was stabbed dead by a jobless man during a drinking spree in Salama Beach in Sitio Pondol, Barangay Jugno, Amlan town in Negros Oriental around 4:00 a.m. Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Jundy Alcantara Sombilon, “Alyas Dampoy”, 38, married, laborer, of Purok Molave, Sitio Pondol, Barangay Jugno, Amlan, Negros Oriental.

He sustained multiple fatal stab wounds in the body.

Police identified the suspect as John Paul Onding Uka, 35, single, jobless, of Sitio Pondol, Barangay Jugno, Amlan, Negros Oriental.

A German national was found hanging inside the room of their house located in Purok Indian Mango, Barangay Bulanon, Sagay City about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Police Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto, OIC police chief of Sagay City PNP identified the victim as Juorgen Chwein, 60.

Chwein has a live-in partner in the place where he was staying and have two children with her.

Police initially disclosed that their indebtedness may have caused him to become depressed.

The 6.5 magnitude earthquake that hit the Visayas Region at 4pm on July 6 damaged power lines and power plants that caused widespread power outages in the islands of Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, and Negros.

A week after, the islands of Leyte and Bohol were still without power and the electric cooperatives in the island of Negros were being asked to reduce their load by 40 megawatts.

The Sangguniang Panglunsod (SP) approved a resolution filed by Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. last July 12, 2017 enjoining the Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA) to comply with all environmental and other related laws in the operation of existing and construction of six (6) new production wells.

The Gamboa Resolution detailed various legal provisions for BACIWA to comply, among others these are, Section 4 of Presidential Decree 1856, Article 13 of the Water Code of the Philippines, Section 26 of the Local Government Code, Section 27 of the Local Government Code.
