Bowler of the Year champion OJ Lopue led the July qualifiers on the second playdate in the ongoing Tenpin Masters Challenge (TMC) Season

Four at Lopue’s East Bowling Center, Villamonte in Bacolod City.

Lopue showed no signs of slowing down as he toppled a two-set qualifying score of 1,193 pin falls on two separate occassions. His first try was 596 on July 4 and he got 597 on his second try on July 6. The powerhouse tenpinner has a plus 5 handicap points per game.

The second round of Fil-Sino Inter-Color Petron Cup 35 and above started with Rev-X All Terrain defeating No. 2 Sprint 4t Racer, 92-84, at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

In the other game, Sprint 4t Rider conquered Ultron Extra, 85-72, in the 36 and above category.

Sprint 4t Rider took the first half, 23-17 as Jolly Castillo knocked down 11 points and Chibon Uy added 8 in contrast with James Uy and Arvin Gustilo that combined for 15 points.

About 50 social workers and house parents working with the city’s Social Development Center recently attended a three-day training on Case Management for Social Workers and House parents at the MassKara Hall of the New Government Center.

Social Worker Beth Caumban said they expect personnel working with juveniles to improve capacity in handling cases of Children at Risk, CAR, and Children in Conflict with the Law, (CICL).

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. wants the province not to rely heavily on its Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) share from the national government.

Marañon intends to lease out two additional properties surrounding the Capitol complex.

These are the properties currently occupied by the Negros Forests and Ecological Foundation Inc. biodiversity conservation center located at the South Capitol Road which will be transferred to the Panaad Park in Barangay Mansilingan.

Section 2 of City Ordinance No. 311 Series of 2012 is an Ordinance requiring chairs or benches for use of salespersons in business establishments in Bacolod City. Considering that even pregnant salesladies are required to stand all throughout their work hours without chair or bench nearby where they could sit down in-between hours of duty.

The 52nd birthday celebration yesterday of Mayor Evelio Leonardia was attended by his wife Elsa and daughter Kara, partymates, city and government officials, friends, barangay leaders and political leaders.

Held at the two convention halls of the Bacolod Pavillon Hotel to accommodate the huge crowd, among the well-wishers were Cong. Greg Gasataya, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, city councilors and others.

The crowd expressed their wishes of good health for the Mayor to continue serving the people of Bacolod.

Two persons were arrested with firearms in Barangay 40 and Barangay Cabug in Bacolod City Sunday.

The suspects were identified as Robbie John Vinzon Bentic, “Alias John”, 30, single, of San Sebastian-Gatuslao Streets in Barangay 13 and Johnny Leonis Sundo, “Alias Tata”, 38, single, of Barangay Cabug.

Bentic was seen by Barangay Tanod, Moises Bacong Libertad, 50 years old, married, of Purok Katilingban in Barangay 40, Bacolod City with tucked firearm while having a drinking spree with companions around 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

A drunken neighbor was arrested by Cauayan PNP at Purok 1 in Barangay Mambugsay around 3:00 p.m. Friday.

Police chief inspector Ruben Pajarito, Cauayan PNP chief identified the suspect as Roger Patenio Tabat, 53, married, resident of Purok 1, Barangay Mambugsay, Cauayan in Negros Occidental.

The suspect is firing his gun in front of the house of Vangie Alsagar Matula, 49, and shouting: “Uboson ta kamo pamatay” (I will kill all of you).

The woman immediately called the police through her cellular phone.

SPO4 Arnel Borja responded and arrested the suspect.

A carpenter was electrocuted in Sitio Tambobo, Barangay Bonbonon in Siaton town around 7:00 a.m. Friday.

Police identified the victim as Nemecio Morquida Avellano, 58, married, a carpenter of Liptong Bacong town also of Negros Oriental.

Police investigation disclosed that the victim was making a steering handle for the yacht with the use of grinder, but was accidentally electrocuted by it.

The victim managed to call for help but it was too late for his neighbor, the victim was already dead.*(CMG)

Three women were arrested for murder and the court denied bail for them in Sitio Tamad in Barangay Bahi-an, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental around 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Tanjay City PNP along with Regional Public Safety Battalion-18 arrested the suspects identified as Vevencia Ramirez Vasig, 54; Irene Ramirez Vasig, 18, and Wenelyn Ramirez Vasig, 14, residents of the place.

Judge Winton M. Villegas of the Regional Trial Court, Branch-43 in Dumaguete City issued the arrest warrant dated August 30, 2016.

An inmate who bolted jail from Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City around 8:14 p.m. last Saturday was shot by pursuing jail guards at dawn yesterday (Monday) at Lacson Street.

Arian Mark Marquez Salaver, alias “Jok-Jok”, of legal age, of Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City is charged for violation of Section 5, 11 and 12, Article II of RA 9165.

He sustained gunshot wound on his back and is now confined at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital when spotted by one of the jail guards.

After four years in hiding, a suspect in the killing of two Dutch nationals in Barangay Alijis was arrested at corner of R. Vivencio-Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City around 1:50 p.m. last Friday.

Ricky Navarro Bonifacio was arrested by joint personnel from the Regional Intelligence Unit (RUI) of National Capital Region (NCR) and Bacolod City Police Office led by Police Senior Inspector Christian Burgos for murder and frustrated homicide of the Dutch nationals.

The provincial government will finally implement a random drug test next month, acting provincial administrator Lucille Gelvolea said yesterday.

“Provincial human resource officer Atty. Annabelle Palic had already submitted the proposal and when funds are available it will be immediately conducted,” Gelvolea said, adding that this will be the first time that the Capitol will implement it for the employees.

She said that the employees will be “randomly tested at unannounced date.”

The existing policy is that it was just required only for drivers, Gelvolea said.

The Sugar Alliance of the Philippines (SAP) will file charges of smuggling against Coca-Cola Femsa for allegedly pulling out High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) from the Bureau of Customs without the sanction of the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA).

Manuel Lamata, president of the United Sugar Producers’ Federation of the Philippines Inc.(UNIFED) yesterday said he will personally see to it that smuggling charges will be filed against beverage giant.

Lamata questioned the pulling out of the HFCS from the BOC when the SRA Sugar Order number 3 is in effect.
