Officers of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) denied reports that it is collecting P150,000 in exchange for appointment as barangay captain if the barangay elections are postponed.

“This is the first I knew about it,” Yves Akol, PDP-Laban Secretary General said.

Akol said, as far as he knows, the party charges P150 as membership fee.

He, however, admitted that there are some groups in southern Negros who has been using the name of the party for their “money-making activities.”

A drug suspect was arrested by Hinigaran PNP in a buy bust operation at Del Pilar Street in Barangay 2 in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Senior Inspector Lawrence Gerard Bathan, Hinigaran PNP chief identified the suspect as Remy Polvorosa Dano-og, 36, married, “alias Puti,” resident of the place.

Initially, police confiscated one heat sealed sachet of suspected shabu in exchange of P500 marked money.

Allege son of Guimaras State College of Science and Technology was killed after he collided with a Toyota Revo along Gonzaga Extension in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod city around 5:45 a.m. yesterday.

The victim was identified as Roger Ronquillo Artajo, Jr., 24 years old, single, resident of Purok Matinumanon in Escalante City, Negros Occidental.

He sustained head and body injures when found by Amity Rescue Team with no signs of life when they arrived.

Two drug suspects were arrested in separate drug operations in Manjuyod and Zamboanguita towns in Negros Oriental Wednesday.

Police Senior Inspector Rogelio Pacificar, Jr., Manjuyod PNP chief in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEA) arrested Ric Caliro Kadusale, 36, single, of Barangay Balisong in Manjuyod town.

He was confiscated with a heat sealed suspected shabu in exchange to P500 marked money.

Another heat sealed suspected shabu was confiscated from him during the frisking and other drug paraphernalia and P98. 00 cash.

The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) expressed concern over the quality of applicants trying to enter the country’s police force.

NAPOLCOM Regional Director Joseph Celis said the applicants are having some difficulties trying to express themselves.

The applicants cannot even answer them properly, Celis said.

Celis led a team that conducted a job interview yesterday for rookie cops trying to enter the Police Regional Office-18 (PRO-18).
