There is a need to construct additional comfort rooms inside the school campuses in the pre-school, elementary, Junior and Senior High Schools in Bacolod City. This is to address the notable increase in the enrollment in all levels in the public schools as reported by the Department of Education (DepEd). Says Councilor Ricardo Tan, whose resolution was approved during the midweek regular session.

Tan also resolved that there is a need to provide janitorial services in the public schools, a major concern which is almost forgotten, according to Tan.

For their quick response, Mayor Evelio Leonardia expressed gratitude and commended the firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Bacolod Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade when the fire broke out at the second floor of the Mayor’s family residence along Rosario Street in Brgy. 38 late Saturday afternoon.

The Negros Oriental Joint Task Force on Security denied reports that an alleged member of the terrorist Maute group has been arrested.

In a statement, the group said that the San Jose Municipal Police Station has not apprehended any Muslim for any violation or arrested for any crime for the last five days in San Jose.

“More so, no information has been taken from any one by the San Jose Police Station on the arrested alleged Maute member that an impending terrorist plan will be undertaken by the extremists Maute group here in Negros,” the statement said.

Tholons International introduced innovation, startup ecosystem and digital transformation as new criteria and a key component to define its index for Top 50 Digital Nations and Top 100 Super Cities.

A “Yunit Militia” of the New People’s Army (NPA) and another person were arrested with firearms in Guihulngan and Canlaon cities in Negros Oriental Monday.

In Guihulngan City, the incident happened at Sitio Batong Buang in Barangay Trinidad around 7:36 p.m. Monday.

Live-in partners were arrested in a drug raid by elements of San Jose PNP in Negros Oriental around 4:50 p.m. Monday at Purok 3, Barangay Jilocon, San Jose town, Negros Oriental.

Police identified the couple as Freddie Mariño Molas, 31, single, jobless, of Purok 3, Jilocon, San Jose, Negros Oriental and Jonna Key Tinoogan Cabarles, 25, single, jobless.

San Jose PNP was armed with search warrant issued by Judge Winston M. Villegas dated June 27, 2017.

A motorcycle driver was killed when he was hit by a Prime Mover along Bangga Pari in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City around 5:15 p.m. Monday.

Police Chief Inspector Charles Gever, Police Station 7 chief identified the victim as Reymund Gumban Dimzon, 36, of Purok Ipil-Ipil, Silay City, Negros Occidental.

He sustained head and body injuries and died on the spot.

Police identified the Prime Mover driver as Romel Muyco, 47, married, of Hacienda Puyas in Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia, Negros Occidental.

Army General Jon Aying, commander of the 3ID lashed back at the rebels for their “double talk” by launching attacks against civilian targets to project that they are still “a force to reckon with.”

A public school teacher was shot dead in his house in Barangay Ubos in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental around 8:30 p.m. Monday.

Bayawan City PNP identified the victim as Kim Araula Timosan, 35, married, teacher of Cansig-id Elementary School of Bayawan City and resident of Pink House Subdivision, Barangay Suba in the city.
