DLNHS ’75, NOHS ’95/96, and N’80 took possession of the lead as the bracketing finals nears the penultimate round in the ongoing 8th Triangular Bowlfest 2017 at Negros Super Lanes.

The quintuple of D’75 knocked down the best three game score of the night with 1,574 pfs in bracket “A” to remove BCNHS/BCHS ’81-89 from the top spot. B’81-89 toppled 1,498.

In the lower groups, N’95/96 collected 1,510 to strip the highest rank from B’73 in bracket “B”; while N’80 amassed 1,425 to secure the topmost status in bracket “C”.

Of the 3,300 permanent positions at the Negros Occidental provincial government, there are still 700 vacant positions available, Board Member Salvador Escalante, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan committee on Finance, said.

Escalante said only 1,800 have been filled up as of this time and 1,500 vacant positions with a budget.

He added that those occupying the 772 contractual positions will be given priority for permanent positions.

A fish vendor was nabbed with firearm in Crossing Marabo, Barangay Mambaroto in Sipalay City, Negros Occ. around 11:25 a.m. Wednesday.

Police Chief Inspector Romeo Vargas, Sipalay City Police chief identified the suspect as Jussel Lucedo Sanchez, 31, married, a fish vend resident of Sitio Tau-angan in Barangay Gil Montilla in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental

Sanchez was arrested in a random checkpoint by police operatives while riding in his Bajah motorcycle 100 cc with plate number 8742SV.

Seven drug suspects were arrested in a drug bust operation in Purok Kahilwayan Matagoy, Barangay Rizal, Silay City, Negros Occ. around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.

The City Drug Enforcement Unit led by Superintendent Willy Diel, Silay City PNP chief identified their target as Girlie Gamboa Duran, 43, male, with live-in partner, resident of Purok Kahilwayan, Matagoy, Barangay Rizal, Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Suspected shabu worth P59, 000 was confiscated from a drug pusher in a raid in Purok Punay in Barangay Pulantubig, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Dumaguete City PNP and elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested Rockwell Estocoming Cabano, 55, married, resident of the place.

Judge Gerardo A. Paguio, Jr., of the Regional Trial Court in Negros Oriental, in Dumaguete City issued the search warrant on June 27, 2017.

The suspect is a high value target of Negros Oriental and a member of a local drug group.

Two sugarcane workers, including a minor were pinned to death when the cargo truck they were riding fell into a canal in Sitio Sta. Ana in Barangay Mabini in Escalante City, Wednesday night.

Police Chief Inspector Rollie Pondevilla, Escalante OIC-police chief identified the victims as Jay-r Canoy, 15 and Leonila Sebua, 50, all residents of Barangay Paitan, Escalante.

The victims were declared dead on arrival at Dr. Vicente Gustilo Memorial District Hospital in Escalante.
