The Talisay Albee Cup cagers took the lead in basketball and in Men’s volleyball with the EBM lady spikers as frontrunners, as the District 3 Inter-LGU tournament finished its 4th weekend matches last June 17 and 18 hosted by EB Magalona.

Silay men’s spikers suffered twin losses to EBM and Talisay in volleyball games held at the Barangay Tabigue covered court. In the women’s match, EBM beat Victorias but the Victorias spikers beat Silay.

BCNHS/BCHS ’81-89, ’73, DLNHS ’77 are top-ranked teams in its respective groups in the ongoing 8th Triangular Bowlfest 2017 bracketing finals at Negros Super Lanes in Bacolod City.

The five-man team of B’81-89 gathered a total score of 3,037 pin falls in the second scheduled of games of bracket A. Trailing for the advantage in the stepladdedr finals: D’75 - 2,996; NOHS ’65 - 2,953; N’94 - 2,943; and N’99 - 2,916.

In other groups, B’73 held on with 3,004 pfs in bracket B; while D’77 forced its way up with 2,845.

Several groups and individuals were given special citations by Mayor Evelio Leonardia during the Adlaw sang Paghanduraw, commemoration of the 79th year of the signing of the charter of Bacolod City, that was in June 18.

The recipients were: Negros Occidental Garden Club; Department of Environment and Natural resources (DENR), Negros Kabarkada Painters’ Association (NEKAPA);

SM Prime Holdings Inc; Ayala Land Corporation; Megaworld Corporation, City Mall; Robinsons Land corporation, Ceres Negros Football Club; and Jose Enriquez, Jr aka. DJ Richard Enriquez.

A 20-year-old person was arrested for the crime of violating RA 10591 by Silay City PNP at Purok Kahilwayan, Barangay 2 in the city around 11:15 a.m. Monday, June 19.

Superintendent Willy Diel, Silay City PNP chief identified the suspect as Gilbert Camarig Selerio, Jr., 21, “Alias Totoy,” resident of the place.

His arrest order was issued by Judge Ana Celeste P. Bernad of the Regional Trial Court, Branch-69 in Silay City dated May 29, 2017.

The Court also recommended a bail bond of P80, 000 for his temporary liberty.

Police operatives of Sibulan PNP in Negros Oriental arrested a person who illegally discharged his firearm at Barangay West Boloc-boloc, Sibulan, Negros Oriental around 1:00 p.m. Sunday.

Belated police report disclosed that Mikel Mongcopa Estoras, 37, “Alias Enel,” single, of the place fired his gun that caused panic to residents who are his relatives, identified as Neil Vincent Estoras, 14 and Aaron Jacob Estoras, 3.

Three suspects were arrested in separate drug operations in Escalante and Sagay cities Monday.

The first operation was conducted by Escalante City PNP at Sitio Linao in Barangay Balintawak around 2:00 p.m. Monday and arrested Eliezer Castilla Encarquez, 30, married, of Sitio Linao 2 in the barangay. He is considered a newly identified drug suspect.

He was arrested by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of Escalante City PNP under Chief Inspector Rollie Pondevilla, the city police chief.

A car and motorcycle were reported missing Saturday, June 17, according to Police Station 1 operatives who received two complaints and alerted the Provincial Highway Patrol of the Philippine National Police for alarm.

A black Isuzu D-Max Model 2010 with plate number FHB-711 with complete chassis number

PABTFR85HA0005661 and engine no. 4JJ1HM2077 worth about P1.2M was stolen after it was parked in front of Sea Breeze Hotel along San Juan Street in Barangay 12, Bacolod City.

This is what happened to a person who cut the banana stalk of his neighbour without permission in Barangay Simborio, Pamplona town, Negros Oriental around 9:45 p.m. Monday.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at a local hospital after sustaining a stab in the stomach.

He is identified as Marlon Cordova, of legal age, married, a resident of Barangay Simborio, Pamplona, Negros Oriental.

His assailant was identified as Maximelian Ramirez Bual, 48, single, also resident of the barangay.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia revealed that House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez has informed him that he will include in the 2018 Annual National Budget the fund for a study of the master development plan for Bacolod.

Leonardia said this in his speech at the awarding ceremonies for Outstanding Taxpayers and Employees during the Commemoration of the 79th Year of the Signing of the Charter of Bacolod City Sunday, June 18 at the Bacolod City Government Center.

Although military and civilian officials have dismissed the latest information spreading on social media,claiming members of the Islamic State (ISIS)-backed Maute group are planning major attacks on June 30, they said there is always a need to be careful.

The information said that the Maute group is planning to conduct massive terror attacks across major cities across the country.

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. has ordered security forces deployed in the province to “be extra vigilant”.

This was the Governor’s order made during yesterday meeting of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Buglas, Ma. Lina Sanogal, provincial planning and development officer said.

The order comes on the heels of the sightings of fishermen from Dapitan who were held by authorities in Sipalay City.

Sanogal said that the public follow the reaction of the people in Bohol who reported the sightings of armed men to the police.
