Young gun Jasper Quimanhan won back the title for Sugarbowl Tenpin Assocication, Inc. (STAI) during the 19th Negros Tenpin Bowling Open Tournament Masters Event which concluded at Lopue’s East Bowling Center in Bacolod City last June 4.

These were the words of Bishop Patricio A. Buzon of the Diocese of Bacolod at the installation of Rev. Fr. Jonas Sumagaysay as the new Station Manager-Administrator of DYAF Radio Veritas Global Bacolod. The ceremony was witnessed by theanchormen/women, field reporters, technical men, guests and Family Life Ministries during the Holy Mass held at the Bishop’s House Chapel yesterday.

A homicide suspect was arrested by Ayungon PNP in Negros Oriental around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police Senior Inspector Romeo G. Cubo, Ayungon PNP chief identified the suspect as Noel Brillantes Gorgonio, 48, married, of Barangay Tampocon 1, Ayungon town, Negros Oriental.

Judge Candelario Guillermo V. Gonzales of the Regional Trial Court, Branch-45 in Bais City issued his arrest warrant dated May 29, 2017.

A jobless man, whose parents hail in nearby Binalbagan town, Negros Occ. was arrested in a drug bust around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday in Gatuslao Street, Purok Tandang Sora, Barangay 2, Himamaylan City.

Police Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez, Jr., Himamaylan City PNP OIC police chief identified the suspect as Ernesto Gayongala Verde, Jr., 36, resident of the place.

Police was able to apprehend him after he handed one small sachet of suspected shabu worth P500 to a poseur-buyer policeman in exchange of P500 marked money.

A fugitive who had been eluding arrest and in hiding for 12 years was arrested recently.

Dennis Reniel Batislaong, 41, of Victorias City is facing seven counts of rape.

He was immediately endorsed to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, according to Police Superintendent German Garbosa, the city police chief.

Batislaong was denied bail by the court. He was the No. 1 in the top 10 most wanted persons in Negros Occidental.

It will be a landfall for more than 2,800 employees of the provincial government of Negros Occidental as they will receive their second tranche of salary increase starting July.

The Sanggunian Panlalawigan during their regular session Wednesday allotted P70 million to be taken from the savings of Personnel Services, Board Member Salvador Escalante, chair of the Committee on Finance and Appropriation.

However, it will not be retroactive since January, Escalante said citing budget limitations of 45 percent.

The municipality of Toboso joins the growing list of local government units in Negros Occidental who have imposed a ban on the selling of Coke products during its annual Sag-ahan Festival.

In an Executive Order, Mayor Richard Jaojoco said that it imposes a “prohibition on the sale of Coca-Cola products in the municipality of Toboso during its annual town fiesta on June 9-13, 2017.

The EO cites “the unabated entry of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) into the country has led to the drop of sugar prices.”
