Bacolod SP Urges City PNP TMU to Assist BTAO on Traffic
“Assist the traffic enforcers and be visible in the streets.”
This is the meat of the Councilor Caesar Distrito-authored resolution, approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod, addressed to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Traffic Management Unit (TMU).
Despite the efforts of traffic enforcers in the maintenance of orderly traffic in downtown Bacolod, yet they need the assistance of the police, the Councilor Dindo Ramos co-authored resolution, states.
The resolution states. that the BCPO–TMU is still needed particularly in the strict and proper implementation of traffic rules and in the apprehension of those who violate the same.
Also, the concerted efforts of BTAO and TMU in managing the flow of traffic and implementation of rules is urgently needed in order to address once and for all the issues and complaints with regard to congestions in most parts of the city.
Distrito emphasized that the TMUis a division in the BCPO responsible in the maintenance of the flow of traffic in city streets and in the strict implementation of the traffic rules. “But, the traffic management of the city is being handled by BTAO that designates traffic enforcers who are tasked to ensure smooth flow of the traffic.”
The TSP approved the resolution that requests the BCPO and its TMU, through P/Supt Jack Wanky the city police director, to assist BTAO enforcers in maintaining the flow of traffic, enforce traffic rules, and also to be visible in the streets.* (Edith B. Colmo)
