Marang Festival 2017 Opens At Capitol
The Marang Festival, now on its second year, officially opened at the Provincial Capitol Grounds in Bacolod City, yesterday, with the theme, “Marang Innovations: Implication to Community Development”. It is participated in by five LGUs namely, Sagay City, Talisay City, La Carlota City, Calatrava, and La Castellana; they are selling freshly-harvested Marang fruits and other Marang-based products and delicacies such as ice cream, candies, polvoron, jam, and caramel tarts, coffee and many more.

The festival aims to help rural farmers sell their products, establish livelihood and business opportunities, and showcase the good quality and distinctive taste of Marang fruits, produced in Negros Occidental.
Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. thanked the towns and cities that participated in the festival and said that there is a big business opportunity for Marang in the future especially that more value-adding enterprise are being studied.
Present during the opening ceremony were Board Member Victor Javellana, chairman of the SP Committee on Food and Agriculture, Negros Occidental Acting Provincial Administrator, Dr. Lucille Gelvolea, Technology and Livelihood Development Center Head, Gerard Tupas, and Capitol department and office heads and employees, among others.
The 2nd Marang Festival will end on Saturday, August 26.*(Capitol News)
