Trike Driver Shot Dead

A tricycle driver was shot dead by unidentified suspect in Sitio Habag, Barangay Martilo, La Libertad town, Negros Oriental, around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Police Senior Inspector Enrique Asonio, La Libertad police chief identified the victim as Remie Domen Faburada, 38, married, of Sitio Lamacan in Barangay Malusay in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

Asonio said the victim was driving his tricycle with two female passengers to convey them to Jimalalud town from Guihulngan City passing La Libertad town.

Police authorities were only informed of the incident around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

When the victim reached the place, two motorcycles with riding-in-tandem in each motorcycle wearing black jackets and bonnets suddenly appeared from behind hitting the victim in the different parts of his body.

As a result, the victim lost control of his tricycle and bumped and fell to a cliff. The two other passengers were able to jump for safety.

According to two unidentified female passengers, the suspects escaped going to Guihulngan City.

Police recovered from the crime scene 18 empty shells of .45 caliber; three slugs of the same caliber; one right handed holster.

The motorcycle of the victim, a Kawasaki Boxer CT150 was also recovered by police operatives.

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

Dr. Louie Jay Amante, La Libertad Medico Legal Officer conducted post-mortem examination on the victim’s body. Police operatives are investigating the incident to determine the motive and identity of the suspects. *
