OBO to Bizmen: ‘Secure Permits Before Operating

To avoid penalty of P8,000.00, Isidro Sun, Jr., head of the Office of Building Official (OBO), is urging businessmen to secure necessary permits before operating their businesses.

He said, the architects and engineers of the buildings are aware that the establishments can not operate without occupancy permit from OBO.

Many establishments in the city without necessary building permits are not noticed due to lack of personnel to conduct inspections. More so that they are the same personnel who inspect occupancy permits, and those applying for occupancy permits.

Sun advise the owners of business establishments to stick to their building plan because if they deviate from it, there is a risk that their application will not be approved.

Also, if they make any alteration, they should inform the OBO.

Sun warns that if they fail to comply with the required permits, OBO will refer their case to the City Legal Office for appropriate action. *(Edith B. Colmo)
