Ponce vs. Pacific in Fil-Sino Class A

Ponce Automobile Corporation and Pacific Motor Parts arranged a titular showdown in Class A division of the Fil-Sino Inter-Color Basketball tournament at Po Hang gym.

Pacific Motor Parts survived New Nelson’s Furniture in double overtime, 94-92 while Ponce defeated Campuestohan Highland Resort, 72-66 last Monday.

Carlo Chu sparked the Pacific offense with 23 points in the 2nd quarter to overturn a 15-12 deficit to a 40-36 halftime advantage.

Richard and Joshua Co, a father and son tandem scoped 10 points each in the 1st half for New Nelson’s.

In the 2nd half New Nelson’s played catch-up and was able to force the overtime behind Bobil Alagaban three triples and Brian Coo added 10 points as Ponce countered with Ramon Khey who stepped up with 12 points- all beyond the arc in the 4th quarter.

In the second overtime, Chu hit for 5 straight points to give Pacific six points lead.

New Nelson’s Chris Javelosa and Bobil Alagaban launched a last ditch rally, but fell short as Pacific Ralph Ong knocked down the winning basket for Pacific.

Khey led scorers with 18 points for Pacific; Ritchie Militante added 9 and Jan Jan Lopue with 7.

Joshua Co chipped in 24 points; Coo added 20, Alagaban 18, Richard Co 16 and Javelosa with 10.

In the 2nd game, Ponce erected, 45-31at half time with Arnol Laureño and Yan Yan Dy combining for 17 points.

Ponce is enjoying a twice-to-beat advantage in the finals after beating Campuestohan.

Ponce was spearheaded by Yan Yan Dy with 15, Laureño added 12, Jason Yap 9, Chibon Uy and Randell Uy with 8 each and Michael Ang 6.

Mark Binguan led Campuestohan with 15, Mark Lo 12, Ong had 9, Coo made 7 and Nico Lopingco 6.* (Cyrus M. Garde)
