Gamboa Receives ‘Elite Business and Leadership’ Award

For his success and victory worthy of commendation and emulation and for his excellence in his chosen field of service, Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. received last July 29, 2017 another national prestigious award known as the “Elite Business and Leadership Award” (EBALA).


Bacolod City Councilor Wilson “Jun” Gamboa, Jr. receives the “Elite Business and Leadership” Award alongside his wife, Irene Chua-Gamboa, a businesswoman and their daughter Angela Lorraine last July 29, 2017 at Okada Manila.*

The EBALA ceremony was held in Okada Manila (Grand Ballroom), New Seaside Drive, Entertainment City, Parañaque City.

Chaired by Alfred Alexander Villanueva, the national high profile EBALA, is an independent award giving entity geared toward recognizing excellence and achievements of any company, organization and individual who ranked number one (1) by its managing team in all categories which are important for the award.

Among Gamboa’s fellow awardees under the “Leadership Achiever in Public Service” category are Cong. Scott Davies S. Laneta, M.D. of Third District, Masbate Province, Representative Michael “Mikee” L. Romero of party-list One Patriotic Coalition of Marginalized Nationals, Inc. (1-PACMAN) and Mayor Edwin C. Santos, Mayor of Obando, Bulacan.

Among Gamboa’s qualifications that catapulted him to the EBALA is his achievements as a member of the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) in 2013-2016, Gamboa as a City Legislator achieved the most number of ordinances passed; a number of these are landmark ordinances that help the City’s development. To name a few, the regulation of E-cigarette, the bike lane interloop, establishing the skills training program for livelihood and employment in every barangay, promoting the use of red flag for pedestrian with disabilities, declaring the Bacolod-Japanese Friendship Day as an annual celebration, anti-barking and many more.

Gamboa is likewise a recipient of numerous awards and recognitions for public service; he is a recipient of the Golden Globe Annual Award for Business Excellence and Filipino Achiever (2017), Extra Mile Hero Award (2015) for his commitment and dedication to “go the extra mile”, personally awarded by the founder of Extra Mile, Mr. Shawn Anderson, a recipient of “Presidential Award” for Outstanding Current Member, “Chapter President” (2000) and “National Executive Vice President” (2007) of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Philippines (1999) and Top 50 Outstanding Alumni Awardee of St. John Institute, Bacolod City (2008).

He is currently the National Vice-Chairman of PCL Credit Cooperative, Chairman of Lakat Para Sa Buwas Damlag Sang Kabataan (Alay Lakad-Bacolod) Inc., Bacolod City Cooperative Development Council, Inc. (BCCDC, Inc.) and Bacolod City Water Watch Incorporated (Water Watch), president of De la Salle University Alumni Association Bacolod Chapter and Executive Board Member of Boy Scouts of the Philippines Bacolod.

Tagged as “Arroz Caldo Man” of the City of Smiles because of his feeding program and known for having helped thousands of out-of-school youth through his TESDA Accredited short term courses scholarship program, Gamboa gave several livelihood trainings for different sectors of society especially to persons with disabilities, senior citizens, out of school youth and parents for free.

Gamboa consistently manifested a true conduct of public officials in his own unique and special ways. He is hard-working and can work with all classes of people. He acts with reason and always have a will and heart for the poor, a legacy that he, his father and his family had bequeathed to Bacolod City and to the country. He believes that public office is a public trust; it is not for personal aggrandizement, having served in itself is already a reward and personal fulfillment. His political belief is to be clean, honest and transparent. He maintains his independence guided by good judgment and the ability to learn on the job. His motto is “to serve Jesus Christ as His witness in public service”.

He is blessed with a beautiful wife Irene Chua-Gamboa, a businesswoman and a daughter Angela Lorraine.*
