Profile of the‘ Publication
The NEGROS DAILY BULLETIN, a vigilant community newspaper circulating in the island of Negros and the Western Visayan region, has been awarded three times nationally for "Best in Environmental Reporting" during the years 2000, 2001 and 2003 by the Philippine Press Institute (PPI) and Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAF) of Germany.
The national award and distinction have been presented during the annual PPI-KAF Community Press Awards Night in Manila with plaques and certificates, in recognition of the daily paper’s consistent and outstanding issues which focused on the environment in its area of coverage.
The honor carried with it a cash prize of P15,000 each year from the foundation as an incentive for the paper’s editorial and reportorial staff.
Aside from its daily (and every other day) section on Environment and Health, the paper also comes out strong with its daily section on BUSINESS & ECONOMY, FEEDBACKS & OPINIONS, COMMUNITY & CIVIC AFFAIRS, including ENTERTAINMENT AND SHOWBIZ, TEXT MESSAGES, CLASSIFIED ADVERTISING, HEALTH and SPORTS, both in local and the national-international scenes.
Its daily circulation goes up to 8,000 notably during special editions like anniversaries, Independence Day, Charter Day, Christmas and yearly festivals of cities, towns and the province of Negros Occidental.
Its number of pages in tabloid size go up depending on the rising demand by clients, including special supplements, for an average of 12.
The number often increases to as much as 28 to 32 pages during some occasions. On its 50th year, the paper came out with at least 50 pages.
This does not include ad placements and greetings that could exceed another 50, plus special supplements, the first edition of which came out first week of May, 2010.
Starting as a weekly paper 54 years ago, NEGROS BULLETIN was born on September 9, 1960, coming out twice a week years later, then thrice weekly and, on October 2, 1994, became a daily publication after having acquired its own printing facilities worth over P3 million.
Owned and managed by the Negros Bulletin Publications, Inc., it is duly registered with the Securities & Exchange Commission SEC).
